My Vaycayshun
Feb. 3rd, 2010 09:05 amHighlights of Ohayocon:
* Finally getting to wear the yukata I bought in Harajuku last spring (I really need to learn to tie the obi myself)
* Being "the good Katara" thanks entirely to
utenatai
* Almost witnessing/getting into an elevator fight with the drunk six-year-old
* Watching Azula attempt to take over the con and the Phoenix Wright cast perform "Gay or European?" re: Miles Edgeworth at the masquerade
* Hanging out with MORE internet nerdz
* Lacking the willpower to resist buying a tokidoki hoodie
* A home-cooked meal and caaaaake at my parents'
Lots of old school cosplay for some reason—Sailor Moon, Trigun, older shows. Hetalia seems to be the show rising in popularity for costumes. Notable non-anime outfits included a pair of Time Lords, that guy from The Hangover, and a bunch of Lady Gagas. I remember seeing the bubble dress and outfits from Poker Face and Bad Romance, and that's not even half of them. It was awesome.
All in all, a successful convention weekend.

This weekend has been good for fun and bad for my wallet. I enjoyed it, despite not getting to sleep in either day. Grr argh.
On Saturday, I hit NYAF with the rest of Disorganization XIII and had fun being a panelist on the fanfiction panel. I'm obviously biased, but I think it went well--definitely better than some of the crap-ass fic panels I've been to at cons, which I guess was the idea behind doing one ourselves. It was fun, and a good, fairly thoughtful discussion with the audience. Apparently my face got REALLY red when I started ranting in response to a question about the use of Japanese in fics. Heh. I wish I had a picture of that!
Today,
arafel and I went shopping at the outlet mall by her and I came up with three pairs of shoes. We agreed that the shoe-shopping would go better with the guidance of
buttercup0222, queen of shoes, but I think we did pretty well all the same.
To my surprise, a new season of The Amazing Race started tonight. Why does no one tell me the important things?! Ah, well. It makes me happy. And they go to somewhere I've been in the first episode, so I got to be the "OH OH I KNOW WHERE THAT IS I KNOW WHERE THAT IS" dork. As opposed to my usual brand of dork.

Feeling out my options
Jun. 3rd, 2009 08:19 pm-Get a shiny shiny phone with mobile browsing because though it costs more, it's a one-time cost, and pay thirty bucks a month for the web/data plan
-Get a useful but less shiny phone with mobile browsing to save a hundred bucks but still pay an extra thirty bucks a month for the web/data plan
-Switch to another provider whose mobile browsing plans are cheaper Nah
-Suck it up and just deal with having internet at my desktop computer and not wherever I feel like it
This is hard.

PHONE POLL
Jun. 1st, 2009 08:01 pmHur hur hur you see what I did there.
I need to get a new phone. I'd kinda like it to have internet, too. I played with a couple of Blackberries today, but I know they're not the only ones out there. I'm with Verizon and I want to stick with their service. SO MY QUESTION IS: those of you who have phones with internet (and you don't have to be Verizon people)--
1. What's a good phone?
2. About what do you pay? (In other words, what range should I go for so I don't get ripped off?)
