PHONE POLL

Hur hur hur you see what I did there.

I need to get a new phone. I'd kinda like it to have internet, too. I played with a couple of Blackberries today, but I know they're not the only ones out there. I'm with Verizon and I want to stick with their service. SO MY QUESTION IS: those of you who have phones with internet (and you don't have to be Verizon people)--

1. What's a good phone?

2. About what do you pay? (In other words, what range should I go for so I don't get ripped off?)

Blackberry Storm sucks balls. The browser is totally crappy and pretty much kills the whole thing. It's more of a business phone than a consumer phone. We won't even dev for it at work because it's just not worth the pain and hassle right now. I think the new Nokia touch screen is going to street soon. Don't know if it's Verizon though.

My brother adores his Touch Diamond Pro. Once he broke it off the Sprint OS, you can't get him off it. I think you can still break it off Verizon OS too and not do anything bad to it. This was the phone I was originally going to get through Sprint but apparently my credit wasn't good enough for them for that phone. So I went with the G1.

I pay around $75/month for my G1 on tmobile. 30 for a calling plan and then 35 for the data plan and then misc taxes.

I played with the Storm and I guess my fingers are too fat for it anyway. It was easier to type on the pink one with the real keys. (I'm so good at names.)

I'd be absolutely lost without my Rant. It does everything, plus it's got a full keyboard. I don't think Verizon has a comparable phone, but I'd suggest anything by Samsung. My last four phones have been Samsungs, and I'm very happy with all of them.

Mr. Po3 has a Blackberry 8830 World Edition, and he's always got it with him. It does *everything*. I can talk to him and see what he likes and dislikes about his phone, if that's one you're considering (and would like some personal experience).

As far as pricing, Mr. Po3, [livejournal.com profile] commander_d, and I share one plan. We get unlimited calls/long distance/roaming/text/data/everything for uh, $150/mo. That's not bad for the three of us, considering that I was paying about $75/mo for me and $20/mo for D's service, and Mr. Po3 was upwards of $90/mo for his service, too. Mind you, we're with Sprint. I don't know if Verizon has something similar, but I'd bet they do.

Sure, I'd love to hear more about it! Thanks. <3

I think I'd be paying around $90 based on what the guy said. That's more phone than I need, but the internet makes a difference.

Well, I'm with AT&T, but nevertheless.

Samsung Propel. Great phone. (Camera isn't that great, if you care about that sort of thing.) And if you ignore my discount, I would be paying about $80 a month. That's with an international plan, unlimited internet, and GPS service.

I told you this yesterday, but I have the LG enV, and other than the fact that it's spent the last year randomly turning itself off (I think my battery might be loose? I know it's not the off button accidentally getting pressed, because it's turned itself off in the middle of me typing a text message) I like it a lot. It does internet, and it has a GPS if you want it, and it has a pretty good camera. I think they're up to the enV3 now, but I haven't had too much time to play with that one.
