Highlights of Ohayocon:

* Finally getting to wear the yukata I bought in Harajuku last spring (I really need to learn to tie the obi myself)
* Being "the good Katara" thanks entirely to utenatai
* Almost witnessing/getting into an elevator fight with the drunk six-year-old
* Watching Azula attempt to take over the con and the Phoenix Wright cast perform "Gay or European?" re: Miles Edgeworth at the masquerade
* Hanging out with MORE internet nerdz
* Lacking the willpower to resist buying a tokidoki hoodie
* A home-cooked meal and caaaaake at my parents'

Lots of old school cosplay for some reason—Sailor Moon, Trigun, older shows. Hetalia seems to be the show rising in popularity for costumes. Notable non-anime outfits included a pair of Time Lords, that guy from The Hangover, and a bunch of Lady Gagas. I remember seeing the bubble dress and outfits from Poker Face and Bad Romance, and that's not even half of them. It was awesome.

All in all, a successful convention weekend.

Not a literal six-year-old, but I couldn't resist writing it that way—that's what she morphed into through retellings of the story by the end of the weekend. She was probably 16 or 17 and threatened to punch Hillary in the face after Hil and Ashe commented on her rudeness of holding up the packed-full elevator while her friend searched for a room key instead of getting off and waiting for the next one.

I've been to enough that sometimes they start to feel boring and same ol'-same ol', but then something dopey but awesome happens, and I remember why I do like them as long as I don't break the bank for them. They're totally worth it if friends are there.

btw, I was thinking of running this past you—care to evaluate some potential fic speculation? More the seed of a seed of an idea than anything else.
