Occasionally, the dreams slide slowly through her still world. There is no sense of time here, so she never knows how long or how short they are. Sometimes they're only strange images, nonsense stories that everyone dreams. But sometimes she can see Kael's face, and these are the dreams that she tries to hold on to the longest.
Kael--He's standing there, just beyond her grasp, if she could manage to move at all. She can see him laughing and smiling at her, and then he looks very serious and opens his mouth to speak to her-but there is no sound here, either, and is message is lost.
She can see her father, too, sometimes, and her mother, who looks so sad. She wants to comfort them, but it's so hard to move in this ether and so easy to just be still be still be still and then the dream passes and then there is nothing but haze for another period of not-time.
