Like it's 1999...
Aug. 27th, 2002 12:21 pmNot quite partying, but I am definitely having flashbacks. That's because I just finished reading the next chapter for pre-calculus. Pre-calculus. During my junior year of college. Not that there's anything wrong with taking pre-calc in college, but I took it my junior year of high school. I freaking took the AP test in calculus! (Didn't get any credit for it, though.) It just seems...wrong, that I'm taking it again. You see, the only reason I'm taking it is because I have to have one math class for VCT. I didn't really decide to double-major in VCT until last year, so it didn't get taken until now. I don't have to take this particular class, but since I didn't receive college credit exempting me from this requirement, I do have to fulfill it, and since it's been so long since I've taken any math, I figure it's best to take the easiest course allowed. Things are definitely coming back to me, but I also remember that pre-calc was the first math class I had to really work at just to get a B, so I'm a little nervous here. I'd feel pretty dumb if I didn't do well in a class that I'd freaking exceeded in high school. This also means that yes, I had to give up Japanese, which sucks big sweaty monkey nuts, but at least I can probably take that next year and memorize hiragana and katakana in the meantime if I want to. Hey, already if you want to read just vowels, I'm your girl.
This semester seems okay, now that I'm not worrying about 21 hours of sheer insanity. Design 104 doesn't look like it'll be much fun, especially since it's way out in BFE. Note to self: bring brother's old bike from home. Note to self^2: buy a bike if brother's is no longer there. Management Systems, as I mentioned, will be a tasty baked good. The first chapter shows you how to use the start button to open Excel. No, I'm not snickering quietly, not at all. My math teacher seems rather jovial, so even if I do have trouble he'll probably be approachable. Print media also seems good enough and though I haven't been to my fiction workshop yet, John Wylam teaches it and he's a really cool guy. Hey, he's the head of the creative writing department and also a guy who loves NASCAR and writes poems with titles like "Fucking Shit." Non-pretentious people in a program filled with pretention are people I can really get behind.
In other happy news, I only have one class on Fridays, and it's done at 10:30. Yayness! I won't have to skip anything to get to the wedding rehearsal next weekend. Yep, the brother is getting married, and I'm a bridesmaid in a dress eerily similar to my senior prom dress. Remind me to scan pictures once I get some. Otakon pics and some doujinshi will probably be scanned soon, when I get to use Chris' computer or spend some time at the tech lab, whichever comes first. I really don't want to scan any pr0n at the tech lab, but then I don't really want to do that at Chris' computer either...so, if anyone really loves me, feel free to show your lurve buy buying me a shiny new scanner or fixing mine.
This year's action figure soap opera has commenced. So far, Scully and Laguna are still happy newlyweds, Chibi-Jupiter is having a threesome affair with two Mamorus, Variant Vash and Meryl are humping like bunnies, and Handless Wolfwood (a tragic Animazement accident) has been taken on as a padawan by Obi-Wan Kenobi. Considering his student's propensity for violence and the fact that Obi-Wan does not reach Wolfwood's waist, training has been slow thus far.
Okay, I'm done.
