Today has been a surprisingly good day so far. I felt pretty well-rested when I woke up but still got to take those extra fifteen minutes to grab whatever z's I could. I'm getting a lot better at sleeping through Becky's morning prep and departure, which is good for both of us. (Although it is a good thing that I couldn't sleep last night when she accidentally locked herself out going to the bathroom. I would've stayed up later and worked on Titleless Fic some more, but I couldn't really sleep in today.)
Wonderful surprise when I woke up--the Tainted Donuts video finished downloading, like I mentioned before. Leaving morpheus connected all night must be the trick, because the last time I tried this it took like a week and still didn't finish. But I have it now, and it is indeed funny. Best damn editing job I've ever seen on an AMV, including my beloved Eden video.
Just got back from practicing my trumpet to memorize Let It Whip and Sleigh Ride (stoopid holiday parade, ugh) for music checks today. Both went better than I expected. Hopefully I'll be fine again, especially since I know not everyone else will have them solid.
This weekend isn't going to be chocked with free time or relaxation--holiday parade & practice for the trumpet ditty tomorrow, Band-O-Rama on Sunday. To be fair, I like the end of the year concert, but it takes up a lot of the day. Mom & Dad are coming up, and last night on the phoen I dropped hints (only in the loosest sense of the word. My family doesn't do subtle, any of us.) that I liked the blue guitar in the window of the store uptown. Only $100, too, so who knows, maybe I'll see it under the Christmas tree. Maybe not. *shrugs*
My Grandma Mayle is in the hospital with pneumonia. This isn't necessarily the most serious thing, my other grandma had it and was okay, but Grandma M. is a lot more frail--basically she's skin and bones. Basically, she's anorexic. I'm not happy about this, but for the last couple of years it seems like we're always waiting for the other foot to drop and give us The Phone Call. The way her health is, we've certainly had time to prepare for the time when she is gone. I love Grandma and I'll miss her when her time comes, but I think I'm more worried about Grandpa. They've been married for 60 years. I can't begin to imagine losing someone I loved for that long. I dunno. I don't think this illness is necessarily going to be the last one, but it makes me think. I hope she feels better soon, regardless.
My new friend Kiri is really cool. She made a comment I found very interesting last night, when we were nitpicking each other's fics. I stupidly saved over the file when I closed the window and forgot about it and thought I should save the rest too, but it basically amounted to "I want to read a story you wrote, not something anyone could write." It made me think hard enough that I was really lost in it and consequently missed a funny Val story completely the first time through. (Sorry, Val. *g* I promise to do better from now on.) I think she makes a good point. I'm not worried about this particular story not aving my mark on it, because I'm just now getting to the point where the characters talk about things of note (and thus get to give my spin on the situation) but I thought it was something worth remembering.
Blah. In about fifteen minutes I get to go have my story workshopped--the story which is really a satirical piece about getting a Catholic girl to sleep with you. Three of the four other group members are guys. *smacks forehead on desk* What was I thinking?
