Why proper hyphenation is important

Because I read "Win a Whale Watching Date with Hayden Panettiere"

and first thought "Wait, why would I want to win a whale? Is this a save-the-whales sponsorship type thing?"

and then "Why is the whale watching Hayden Panettiere on a date?"

before realize "Oh, it's a whale-watching date."

Then again, maybe I just really need coffee.

This is the rare case where the intended meaning amuses as much as the improper meanings allowed by the lack of punctuation. Because why would I want to go whale watching with her? ;-P

Apparently she is an avid whale watcher. I'm sure she will provide deep insight into being cold and wet and waiting for a whale to appear. For example, I think she's discovered that wet hair provides a good deal of verisimilitude for the aprés whale-watching paparazzi.

Hey, you never know: the Japanese might issue another arrest warrant for the two of you while you're out there.
