Fellow Netflixers, help me out

Is there ANY way to find out why the hell my rentals are taking so long to get here? I realize that high-volume users have longer wait times on the more popular stuff, but there's no reason why an unpopular movie I sent back LAST Monday results in another unpopular next rental sent yesterday, due to arrive this THURSDAY. Especially when the other people who share this account aren't having the same problem with their queues, DOUBLE especially when a movie from the other queue that was also sent out yesterday is due to arrive today. WTF?

maybe you have similar tastses as alot of other users.

Um, when that happens and a lot of users want a particular movie, you get a longer wait time. It's listed on the queue. These were low-traffic movies, trust me. Plus that wouldn't explain why Casey's movie and my movie both got sent--or "sent"--yesterday, but hers is due today and mine Thursday.

Most Netflix users I know finding that problem reregister under a different name so that wait times magically go away.

Are these people facing problems of 'short/ long wait' as listed on their queues, or just magically looooong mailing times? I was under the impression that high volume users just saw more "you'll have to wait this long for X movie" notices than other people.

I don't know anything about the mail times, I've never asked. Are you checking the postmarks on them? Any chance they're 'disguising' the date they actually post? I guess if it's the mail service, there's nothing you can blame Netflix for.

When we send our movies back, they don't go back to a giant Netflix house, they go to our local Netflix dist. center. So maybe you get things that were last checked out by somebody in Alaska, and yours is coming from Anchorage, but mine was last seen in DC or something...

So maybe the key is that I should choose less-popular movies (I'm sure there's a long wait for Brokeback Mountain) but not TOO unpopular movies.

I CAN'T WIN.

The irony is this particular movie is in the library here. I just try not to take too much stuff out at once, so I said "eh, I'll just Netflix it."

I use to have a 2-3 day turn around time and they were true to it. Now I am having the same issue that you are. Its not just movies listed as "Long Wait". It took disc 6 of Excell Saga 3 days beyond the quoted day of arrival to get to me.

I just chalk it up to the mail system in BG and other areas though, cause I have also had packages sent to me from the Dayton area that took 2 weeks to get to me. You would think it would take 5 days max. I mean come on the places are 3 fucking hours away via I-75. Then again I have recieved royal mail from Great Britian in 3 days. No special payment for overnight delievery. WTF? I have a love hate relationship with the postal service her in America.

So I would say it is probably not all to blame on Netflix. But I shake my one fingered fist in their direction as well cause I am still awaiting "Annie Hall". It was suppose to be here yesterday

Sounds like throttling, where Netflix messes with wait and mailing times.

My friends who have netflix are having the same problem
