So tiresome.

Can we agree to a moratorium on "I like slash as much as the next person, but why do people slash THIS pairing? It doesn't make sense because they seem so straight/there's an age difference/they have canon interests....etc" posts?

Wishful thinking, I know. And sometimes I even agree with the poster. But really--this kind of thing is getting so boring and most slash is based on subtext, which is more than a little bendy depending on who's interpreting it. So why bother?

Well you know, what is up with yaoi?

I mean really. Why do writers find certain characters attractive and feel the need to create scenarios for them in genres that turn them on? This guy turns me on, yaoi fiction turns me on, so I’m going to write this guy in some yaoi fiction. Oh no, it can’t be as simple as a humans creative logic at work here, there must be something I’m not grasping because so many slashers are doing it and I just don’t get it.

Let me shake the pink magic 8-Ball my daddy’s insta-credit card got me at the mall last month and find my answer that way.

I think some of the people who write these posts just don't quite get that everyone has different standards for what makes sense as far as pairings go. Sure, some of them are just homophobes, but others are anything but yet they still don't get certain pairings. I can understand the way they think; their are some pairings that just baffle me, but I just remind myself that what I think makes sense is not the universal standard and yes, "it's hot" is a valid standard. After all, I don't have to read the fic or even think it's at all plausible.

I just wish fandom could find a more interesting issue to stalemate over.

Like the infamous - please warn if you're going to rape your uke and make him fall in love with seme - rant.
While the the rant is valid, the stalemate about 'validate the rape' still wages on.

Now I want to think of some really creative rants to liven things up. *ponders*
