On the plus side

Scott Pilgrim was awesome. Seriously, when was the last time you saw a non-opening week theater crowd applaud at the end? It was great, loads of fun and helped take my mind off things. It's too bad that it kind of bombed, but I can easily see it having a long life as a DVD cult classic.

Also I want to look like Ramona Flowers.

Now I'm going to go to bed and stare at the ceiling, because I drank aaaaaall of my very large small-size Coke Zero, because gosh darn it, I paid for it.

Dude, where do people keep finding these showings of Scott Pilgrim with other people in the theater? I went twice and both times, I WAS ALONE.

We went to the theater at The Big Mall by me, which pretty much always has people around.

I'm glad that you and Mr. Pilgrim enjoyed the same beverage.

It was a coincidence, but I was pleased to see it. That was something I liked about Japan—there was Coke Zero everywhere.

KNIVES
Am I the only one bothered by how the one female Ex died via her sexuality? Uncoolest death of the bunch.
But aside from that and Knives > Ramona, I liked the whole style of the movie. I enjoyed being in that world.

You are not the only one. It gave me the icks—I leaned over to my companion and whispered that that was creepy. I was much amused that the actress was Katara from ATLA, though.

She made me laugh, because the actress did a SPOT-ON rendition of immature teenage fangirl, and then she grew up some and got all awesome. I liked her and Ramona about equally, but she certainly got around to dealing with her issues faster. Perhaps due to the power of the 1-Up.

I did not realize that Mae W had done voice work. I like what she does on "Parenthood," and she and Lorelai Lauren G and she and the actress playing her similar-aged cousin do great scenes together.

I thought Ramona was OK, but I didn't see much between her and Scott except his immense sexual attraction for her. He and Knives were more real friends with actual common interests. I loved seeing them play and then later really fight.

Are you a Hunger Games reader?

She was also the president's daughter in Independence Day!

I would disagree that Knives and Scott were real friends. Common interests, maybe, but he did not seem at all interested in HER until the very end. (And she's definitely too cool for him.) I hear that some of the foundation for Scott/Ramona was lost in transition from comics to screen, but I liked that at the end, it was a "let's try this again" maybe BECAUSE they still don't know everything about each other, and not a happily-ever-after.

Nope!

I did wonder that there might be a lot more relationship building in the comic, instead of the instant "we're going to try and be a couple" feel of the movie, a thought that made me laugh because it is, of course, the chief complaint of Twi-book fans, that the immense bits of everyday story that got cut from the movie took away the entire foundation of the rel.
Knives is too good and too cool for Scott. ;-P
I also thought Jason S was great as Gideon, but I normally like him. My DH was not as impressed with him.

Don't forget Egg Ann from Arrested Development!

Everyone who I know who's seen the movie, LOVES it!! It's a shame it isn't doing as well as it should. I'd definitely see it again for sure!!

I'm so pissed, I wanted to try to catch a matinee this weekend AND THEY'VE ALREADY PULLED IT.

Oh, I saw it the other day and loved it! There was applause at my showing, too.
