1. Meme time! Give me a character/pairing from any fandom I participate in and I'll give you one fanon that I don't agree with.

2. Avatar people on my flist, I am kind of dumb about the fandom--got any recs for fics that are about or involve Zuko have lulzy (okay, dramatic's fine too) adventures with the gaang, basically like he did for the last half of season three? I bought the last DVD box as a "hooray for getting a job" self-reward and after re-watching them, that's all I want to read about.

Hmm...I'm not entirely sure if this is fanon or not, since I only really hang out on the fringes of Avatar fandom, but let's take KatAang. I think it's a sweet, cute first love/puppy love sort of thing, and an epic friendship; I don't think it's possible for it to be an epic romance when one of them hasn't gone through puberty yet. Give them a few years and maybe.

I have several problems with KatAang.

1. I hate First Girl Wins trope. With a passion, I hate it. You can look up my TV Tropes page to see in detail some of my problems with it.

2. I have the squick because Aang started out all "let's go Penguin sleeding" so he was a 12 year old who had no interest in girls. Then she was the big sister mother figure, and then there was all of a sudden Twu Wuv. Which presumably Aang is capable of because he's the Avatar and has hundreds and thousands of past lives.

I'm not really a fan either, but I was trying to be fair and keep it to fanon and not Jaina's Thoughts On Ships. *grin*

I can see why they went there, and I can see why Aang sees it as True Love, but I just can't see a romance between them going the distance. And this isn't because I ship them with others--Zutara tickles my fancy in some ways, but only as a maybe future thing in fanfiction. It wouldn't have worked in the series at all.

Male Bonding (http://www.fanfiction.net/s/3920080/1/Male_Bonding) sounds like what you need, since it features Sokka and Zuko being total dorks and egging each other on. It was written before we saw just how much of a dork he actually was once he joined the Gaanng, so that makes it even more awesome. <a href="http://www.fanfiction.net/s/2905424/1/Prison_Conversations> Prison conversations</a> might also be enjoyable, although the dork quotient is lower and its so very very AU.
