Oh, sucks. I'm so sorry. Another friend just got laid off on Monday to boot. If NY is anything like LA I'd recommend filing for unemployment as soon as you get back because that sucker takes a while to go through. In the meanwhile, I extend my deepest sympathies (seriously, what heinous timing) and "welcome" you to the club.
