Ah, there's that travel paranoia

Dear Self,

Gnomes are not going to steal your passport from its place in the document box while you sleep.

Yeah! It's those identity thieves you have to watch out for.

[identity profile] loveotter.livejournal.com 2009-03-14 03:24 am (UTC)(link)
That is like my favorite icon on the interwebs.

[identity profile] jaina.livejournal.com 2009-03-14 03:31 am (UTC)(link)
It's so expressive!

[identity profile] fadingembers.livejournal.com 2009-03-14 03:28 am (UTC)(link)
That is an amazing reaction icon.

[identity profile] jaina.livejournal.com 2009-03-14 03:31 am (UTC)(link)
The Frysquint is incredibly useful as both an icon and a macro.

[identity profile] sarcasticval.livejournal.com 2009-03-14 05:57 am (UTC)(link)
Agreed.

[identity profile] maeveth.livejournal.com 2009-03-14 03:16 am (UTC)(link)
I dunno, I hear unless you booked through Travelocity the gnomes DO come and hold your stuff for ransom until you use their site.

[identity profile] jaina.livejournal.com 2009-03-14 03:32 am (UTC)(link)
They never tell us that on TAR!

[identity profile] maeveth.livejournal.com 2009-03-14 03:46 am (UTC)(link)
But don't you know? That's the REAL secret behind the Travelocity slogan.

"You'll never roam alone"? That's no slogan, that there is a THREAT. That gnome will stalk you. Endlessly. It'll look in your windows when you're in the hotel. It'll be at the pool.

Gnomes. EVERYWHERE.

[identity profile] lady-ganesh.livejournal.com 2009-03-14 03:42 am (UTC)(link)
...but are you sure?

[identity profile] jaina.livejournal.com 2009-03-14 03:43 am (UTC)(link)
You are NOT HELPING :P

[identity profile] lady-ganesh.livejournal.com 2009-03-14 03:44 am (UTC)(link)
I used to lie in bed at night trying to figure out the best way to lie in bed so the robber/assassins wouldn't realize I was there and stab me in bed.

I am not good at discouraging paranoia.

[identity profile] jaina.livejournal.com 2009-03-14 03:46 am (UTC)(link)
I did that too, only it was me trying to be still enough that the robbers/assassins/kidnappers wouldn't realize I wasn't one of the dolls/stuffed animals on my bed.

It was actually pretty good at getting me to fall asleep.

[identity profile] lady-ganesh.livejournal.com 2009-03-14 03:46 am (UTC)(link)
I'm a little jealous. I never slept for shit.

[identity profile] jaina.livejournal.com 2009-03-14 03:48 am (UTC)(link)
The downside was the fear of robbers/assassins/kidnappers.

[identity profile] lady-ganesh.livejournal.com 2009-03-14 03:49 am (UTC)(link)
Yeah, but I had both. I feel slightly better knowing I'm not alone here, though.

[identity profile] tardbot5000.livejournal.com 2009-03-14 04:23 am (UTC)(link)
What you have to watch out for are the gnomes that unpack and repack your travel bags with the wrong stuff while you sleep. I swear it's happened to me>:(

[identity profile] jaina.livejournal.com 2009-03-14 04:28 am (UTC)(link)
I'm packing a bunch of stuff this weekend and I don't even leave until NEXT Friday. I DON'T WANT TO FORGET ANYTHING.

Like my passport.

[identity profile] fadingembers.livejournal.com 2009-03-14 04:30 am (UTC)(link)
Something I read before I left for Mexico was that yo ushould make a phootocopy of you rpassport, so in case it's stolen or lost, you have that record and numbers and whatnot on your person. I have not had my passport stoeln, but I still have my copy in my suitcase.

[identity profile] jaina.livejournal.com 2009-03-14 04:32 am (UTC)(link)
I love that you can dispense such useful advice while clearly drunk off your ass.

[identity profile] fadingembers.livejournal.com 2009-03-14 04:34 am (UTC)(link)
HEY I AM FIRMLY ON MY ASS AND DRUNK

[identity profile] jaina.livejournal.com 2009-03-14 04:38 am (UTC)(link)
AND YET YOU CAN'T MANAGE "PASSPORT" OR "STOLEN"

The perfect replication of the original video makes it fucking great.

what he or she said, only I would add...make two copies, keep one copy with you and leave one with a parent/friend/whoever back in the states. This is what I demand my students do. They do not listen, but I demand anyway mwahahaha!!
