Pre-meme observation: man, if this time of Job Yuck has shown me anything, it's that I really don't deal with change as well as I'd like to think I would.

Rukia--I just dig this character. I don't want to go into an essay, and I could, but I've always liked her, even when I thought Bleach was some kind of Ghostbusters show. She kicks ass but is also very realistic in her weaknesses and insecurities. I don't think of myself as being especially like her, but I identify with her in some ways, and her character just clicks with me; I want to explore it more. I don't even understand how anyone can dislike her. (Well, obviously I get that different types of characters just do or don't work with people. Still.)
Meryl--Some of what appeals to me in Rukia gets me with Meryl, too. I like strong female characters who still have well-developed emotional sides, yet don't fall into the tsundere cliches.
snark--I like it? *g* I've been accused of basically being a horrible person for snarking at fic in my journal instead of giving crit to authors, but if I genuinely have nothing to say that would be helpful (usually because it's obvious the author won't listen), I'd rather amuse myself with friends. For most of the stuff I link here, the only thing I could say is "STOP WRITING ENTIRELY" and who am I to tell people to stop doing something they enjoy, even if it sucks??
badfic--Oh, so the above item was just snark in general? Copypasta it for this one too then.
chili spaghetti--I don't understand why some people are so weirded out by the idea of it. Chili spaghetti is delicious. Maybe it's because my dad makes really good chili from scratch, but in my family we always had it more often than regular marinara sauce spaghetti.

SHOES--I've never been a huge shoe person, but I've got a bigger collection than I used to. I actually have a separate pair of pink sneakers for some outfits! (They were on sale.) And of course I love the gorgeous sandalsroserevolution and I both have. We can be all matchy-match if we want to.
Red hot yaoi--Oh god, THAT DUDE. Anyone who's been to one of the big anime cons knows the Hen Da Ne guy who's always yelling about it from the booth where he sells his doujinshi and other hentai goods. Not a bad dude, but man, when you're working the dealers room for a weekend and you're constantly hearing it...
fanfic--I love it, writing and reading, though the former is harder these days. People get so incredibly creative, it's amazing, and it really fills some of the needs canon gives us. Some people wonder how anyone can be interested in it; I wonder how they can't.
Bleach--It's got some of the character types and plot points that really interest me, surprisingly good writing for fighting shonen, beautiful art, a huge cast of interesting characters...basically, it's manga crack for me. Which should be obvious to anyone who reads this journal.
feminism--IS IMPORTANT. Enforced gender standards hurt everyone, men too. I know some people don't like claiming the term "feminist" due to certain perceptions about how feminists and feminism work today (which I believe is a mistake), but whatever you call it, if you don't think cutting down on sexism is necessary (or if you think sexism is largely in the past), then I really don't know how to relate to you.
