So the Trigun movie isn't cancelled after all

From Heiseidemocracy: Via Moon Phase Diary: The promotional dust jacket cover (”obi”) from volume 14 of the Trigun Maximum manga [AA] brings the news that a Trigun animated feature film is currently in production! It will feature an original story developed by manga author Yasuhiro Nightow and director Nishimura Satoshi who collaborated with Nightow on the Trigun TV series and is also known for his work on the Hajime no Ippo anime. The script will be helmed by veteran anime writer Kobayashi Yasuko, with character designs from Yoshimura Takahiro (an unknown?) and animation production from Madhouse. The tagline reads: “Vash vs. Wolfwood?! The familiar characters erupt on screen in an all-original Trigun story!”

I'm torn by "ooh shiny" and "meh, this is just gonna be a random shonen fight sequence."

I sure as hell hope it'll be more than that. The manga lost my interest toward the end (I still think Nightow got sick of doing the series about two years before it actually ended) so in a perfect world, this movie would build on the best qualities of both manga and anime for something better.

Totally agreed on all that.

However Vash vs. Wolfwood could imply the "why" behind that. I hope.

Yeah, I agree, the manga lost my interest too, and probably Nightow's. How many years can you write one thing and not just start to wish it was done with now?
