Work was dead boring today. There were almost no customers, partly because of the rain but mostly because of Red, White & Boom. Which I forgot to watch on tv. But I don't care.
I'm 100+ pages into "Cases," and Douglas is still an interesting read. The structure of this book is very different from some of the others like "Journey Into Darkness", which is much more of a mish-mash of cases. This is more like an anthology of detailed case notes. Ah, my sweet hardcover, you are expensive but worth it.
Killed Yakra in Chrono Trigger. Again. Kinda bummed that you only get the extra features after beating the game, but I've played this thing through so many times, I can spare the attention to read as I go.
SR71 is still really, really awesome. "What a Mess" is going on the illustrious *cough hack* MiR soundtrack. I was daydreaming earlier about going to a concert of theirs and possibly getting close and meeting them, since they're not ultra-famous, and then I remembered "Dammit! Val did do that!" So yay for Val, but jealous me. Well, at least I get to see BNL and Vertical Horizon with Josh. I adore the boy. He may need to grow up in a few ways, but he is still a funny, fabulous person. I'm blessed to have him as a close friend.
Gotta get up early tomorrow--like seven--to go to Marc's for the 4th. It will be nice to see him and Carole again. Her parents are apparently being real bitches about the wedding. If Carole wants more time before getting married, I know Marc will be fine because he loves her and wants her to be happy, but I don't like that her parents are trying to control things. I'm really glad that she's close to my parents, because she needs the support and from what I've seen of their e-mails, Mom is giving really good advice. Who knew parents could be so wise. After all, we teenagers know everything. *rolls eyes* Do I get an automatic maturity boost/reality check when I exit Teen Land? I guess I'll find out in a few months.
The Work Week From Hell is over. The next couple of days are piss easy schedules, and thenthere's zoo fun and Mongolian Barbecue goodness to be had. Jadeite is also quickly becoming a favorite character, so I think I'll try and get a chunk of MiR done. I'm really anxious to write more and not fall behind in my non-existent schedule. Future events are starting to form more coherent shapes, which is would. Megan and Char are great for consulting on the nitty-gritty stuff, and Val is the one to go to when it comes to reader reactiom, consumed as she is by The Project.
Time for sleep. I leave you with a song.
Empty Spaces-SR71
I'm not afraid to go backwards and fix what we broke
My gaze falls behind, you make desire seem so easy
I hold off sleep, it's so silent without you here
Don't give up now, it would all be for nothing
I believe in second chances
I believe the years forget
Let me fill these empty spaces
Better late than never / Stay forever
Let me fill this empty space
There's always room for one more mistake
Can you feel that
I think we're moving in the right direction
I was someone else then
I'd take it back if you would let me
We were never this close when we were young
Every night I whisper your name at the top of my lungs
Hmm. I might have been thinking of this one for MiR--well, it definitely fits, in any case. It's in a dead heat with What a Mess and Non-Toxic for favorite SR71 song. I'll just have to keep listening until I can decide. Oh, darn, how sad.
