Well, since I finally started watching Avatar: The Last Airbender (I'm almost done with the first season), I'm going to say Katara and Zuko.

I like this pairing...with some conditions. I don't think Zuko is in any condition for a serious relationship right now so I see it as more of a future thing. I don't see anything in canon to indicate they are harboring Sekrit Feelings for each other, and a lot of what I've heard about the Zutarian contingent scares me a little. But yet I like it. Maybe it's because I like the messed up boys, or maybe it's my thing for kickass girls + secretly dorky boys, but I would enjoy fic about it occurring in the future. I'd rather see it in canon that I would Katara/Aang, but I'm more worried about Zuko ending up not entirely fucked up.

I still love them! I just refuse to acknowledge the last few seasons as canon. Actually, I only watched those episodes once anyway, so I don't even remember a lot of the details. That helps. Mulder and Scully were the earliest example I can remember of my Partnership Kink, and they were really good together. Possibly because they were just too fucked up for anyone else, but they just...worked. Scully was sort of too good for Mulder (that's my OBSSE background showing) but they were each other's idiots. The kiss on the forehead during Memento Mori (I'm thinking of the right episode, right?) is still one of my favorite moments for them.

As far as I'm concerned, they're canon. Okay, maybe not technically, since we never saw anything onscreen, but they were SO eyefucking in the last episode. Personal canon, baby, it's a beautiful thing. They're another example of my Partnership Kink. Even if they're not of equal rank, there still is a beautiful partnership there, and they do get each other. Theirs is also one of those relationships that doesn't need to be consummated in order to get some satisfaction, because it's so great as it is. Not that I would mind some consummation. Riza would SO top spiritually, though I can see them mixing ity up and getting creative physically.

Not a hundred words, but I like this pairing, crack though it may be; I know some people think Kenpachi's just not interested in that sort of thing, but it's not like I think Unohana doesn't have greater concerns, either. It stems from the 11th divisioners being all scared of her. The kind of opposite yet respectful relationship they could have has a lot of fun possibilities. I can't imagine it being super romantic.

He's a dirty fucker in the anime, but I sort of like it in the movie and the manga. I suppose it can't work out in the movie cuz he's dead and all, but that moment where she remembers it and he floats away is really sweet, if fucked up. And he seems a lot more sincerely enamored of her in the manga, though he's still a manipulator. I LOVE when he starts following her around like a puppy, and when only he and Anthy remember her at the end, gah! My heart goes wibble. He's one of the best parts of the manga, which isn't as good as either of the animated versions imho.

CANON, LAWL. Iroh is what lots of women are looking for, baby. An honestly decent, nice guy, and not one of those pseudo "nice guys." Yeah, he fought on the side of the fire nation, but I'd bet money that he tried to run an honorable war. They can't ALL be horrible warlords or Zuko wouldn't have protested and gotten scarred in the first place. Iroh is kind, intelligent, kickass, sneakier than he looks...hell, I might still do him even at his age, though I'd much rather have some great conversation and tea with him. I bet he'd be a wonderful dinner companion.

Haha, I still love this pairing! Obv. not canon, since they never met in the anime. Let's not talk about the manga, I have soured on it. I think they could be a really interesting pairing, though not the way 99% of the fics about them write them. He shouldn't be a substitute except in a totally fucked up way, and she's not going to revise all his opinions on humanity. It's sort of like how I feel about Byakuya/Rukia in Bleach; if you like the couple in a non-fucked up way, you are missing the point. Also Knives is a total virgin, and that is hella fun to play with.

Renji/Rukia: I like this pairing. I do! Not enough people seem to pay attention to the familial nature of Renji's love for her, which imho is just as important as any romantic love he has, but I also say it's like a brother/sister thing where it wouldn't actually be incest if they did it. I have a feeling that I might totally OTP this pairing if it weren't for Ichigo--though I can't really imagine Bleach without Ichigo. Another reason I can't go full-bore RenRuki is...well, I like tormenting him. XD I love the relationship they have now: best friends, but still working on getting back to where they were. Cuz distance plays a part. Even though I'd rather see her with Ichigo, reading good RenRuki fic is nice and satisfying to me, like drinking some rich hot chocolate.

Ichigo/Rukia: OTP OF THE CENTURY I can't help it. And it's in spite of the fact that they're the leads, mind you; I was perfectly happy with their platonic relationship, and I don't need it to be canon to like wherever they go. I didn't even realize I shipped them until post-SS arc when I was looking for fic and it just seemed the obvious choice. It's the partner thing; they have such utter equality and bring out some of the best in each other and kick around each other's dumbness. Also, tall/short is TOTALLY HOT, FOR SURE. They just get each other, and even though they've both got their own secrets, they can be the most themselves around one another. I like that they've grown out of the mentor/student role, too; it was appropriate for a while, but she doesn't need to be much of a teacher anymore, and he taught her a few things as well, they just happened to be more emotional things. I'm really intrigued to see where they go because even if they never make out, there's a lot of complexity and specialness to their relationship that I love.
