7 interests meme

Comment on this post. I will choose seven interests from your profile and you will explain what they mean and why you are interested in them. Post this along with your answers in your own journal so that others can play along.

From [livejournal.com profile] scathachdhu:

1. Patty Griffin
A really great folk-rock singer. I first found her through her album Flaming Red, which is a little more on the rock side, but all her stuff is good. To this day, whenever I hear "Mary," I think of everyone singing along softly while we watched the Scully video at Fest and get wistful. Good times.

2. two-fisted monkey style
I don't even know. I know it's a phrase I thought was funny, but I can't remember where I first heard it. I guess it's some freaky way of masturbating or something?

3. weebl and bob
LO BOB HAVE PIE? A series of funny, funny flash videos starring W&B. [livejournal.com profile] arafel and I greet each other with quotes from the pie episode regularly.

4. yaje
Um, okay, so at the first OBSSE Fest I went to, we had talent night, and I was part of a group that was recreating the X-Files episode Teso dos Bichos via interpretive dance. I played the dancing yaje spirit. It's been sort of a thing ever since; my username on one general discussion board is Yajedancer.

5. guster
Another great band I like. Their sound is often happy and chipper, but the lyrics...not so much. I'm happy to share mp3s with the interested.

6. the watch?
The City Watch books of Discworld are my favorites in the series, especially Night Watch. Sam Vimes FTW.

7. pleather
Who needs the real thing, man? Leather is overrated. Pleather is STYLISH.

[livejournal.com profile] firstmidnight pointed me over to your comment, so I read the fic to see what you were referring. I'm sorry I couldn't make heads or tails of it. I actually got a headache reading it trying to decipher it. Between the random and inconsistent tense changes the abusive misuse of then/than and then... I couldn't finish it. Readability was nil.

Admittedly though I've had to swallow a few "that's it" in regards to flashfic. There have been a couple of instances where I was completely disappointed with what I got because they did not at all fit the request. Meh.

I finished it, but I have a high tolerance for badfic. Unfortunately.

I figure getting a fic that is bad or we just plain dislike is just a necessary risk of flashfic. But there's a difference between that and something that just isn't even trying, and there's no excuse for the latter.
