Squee!

It's fun to watch other people watch SPN in chat after you've already seen it. (EST FTW!) And then [livejournal.com profile] tenebris started writing fic movie trailers and it was all lollercoasters. So! Thoughts on the Supernatural finale.

I love it. That's all.

Not really. Ha, you guys know me, I am not good with the shutting up. Stuff I loved:

-Angry!Dean, making with the crazy eyes
-Dead!Sam. I just think it's cool they showed the corpse. They could have made Padalecki look deader, though.
-The monologue, the monologue! I think that was just a tasty treat to the angst whores. Thanks, Kripke.
-Dean, you are a SHITTY-ASS negotiator. Though I suppose it's hard to be a good one when the other guy knows the stakes.
-Bobby!
-Ellen!
-Daddy! I don't mind that he had no lines, because there was so much emotion and pride behind his expression when he looked at his boys.
-YED GO BOOM!

Okay, no more bullet points, I'm tired of them. I see the posters at TWOP are largely bitching and moaning and a bunch of them are looking like little crybabies. I think the killing of the YED was brilliant. Hurrah, a plot thread ENDS--in a way. They got their revenge; they did what they originally set out to do. Excellent. That alone gives me more faith in this show than I'll ever have in stuff like lost.

It also shows that shows DON'T have to leave big things like that for the series finale, because even though that's one big plot thread tied up, there's a lot more--how did Mommy Winchester know the demon? What are they going to do about the d emons that escaped? (And I expect them to be a big deal, not just a convenient device for more monsters-of-the-week next year. We didn't NEED them as a device.) What about Sam's powers? There's still the issue of him commanding that demon army. What about other children with powers? And this is not even taking into account Dean's year to live, what'll happen with Ellen and the Roadhouse, how many hunters have died...

..well, there's still plenty of stuff to use for stories without fishing around at the bottom of the barrel, is what I'm saying. And if next season is anything like this season, it's going to be awesome.

The fic trailers thing is...originally my fault, yes, but Merry encouraged me, too! And technically, I got the idea from LOTR fandom, where all the crack and crazy show up to have fun first and all.

Also, it harkens back to my once-upon-a-time desire to write the back synopses for paperback novels. I LIKE SUMMARIZING and then writing really long epic fic to go with it.

And the DI banner is FABULOUS. ;)

And I'm STILL full of so much love for the SPN season finale because...OH GOD THEY BROKE ME THEN THEY PUT ME BACK TOGETHER and yes! you're right about how there's so much setup for the third season. And Kripke has often talked about how much he doesn't like to leave threads dangling; he answered the question about what John said by mid-season, he didn't allow Dean to keep the secret from Sam (though Sam got to keep his secret from Dean) and now we've got that YED bastard DEAD DEAD DEAD even though, dude, Sam is the LAST child does this mean someone's gonna step up on that? Or is Sammy free to use his powers without problems now? And what about Dwayne? And "Meg"? And...and...WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAI so much to talk about, what do those people at TWOP know? (Though I'm gonna miss YED dude. And Daddy. Bring on the flashback ep!)

I was so glad to see the YED die. He was ... kind of dumb, as mytharc monsters go. He needed to die. But there's so much left for S3, like you said, that I think it was a brilliant move.

The escape of the demons kinda feels like Brimstone. Except it's 100 - 200 demons not Damned souls which they have to hunt down and send back to Hell. I guess I can deal with that as the "main" storyline if they keep all of the other stuff in the foreground. That's what I didn't like about season one. MOTW overpowered character development until very late in the season.
