I'd totally buy this game.
jainax: Heeeeee. Bleach the RPG.
Indigosama: Dude.
Indigosama: Final Fantasy Bleach would ROCK
jainax: Yeah, it really would.
Indigosama: Limit Break: KONSTOMP!
jainax: Make sure to de-equip Rukia before the Menos Grande quest, because after that she leaves the party and by the time you get her and the items back, you'll have outleveled them.
Indigosama: Remember to buy Boobtastic Armor and Cat Claws at the Serireitei Shop before the Kenpachi boss battle because you'll need them for Yoruichi.
jainax: Remember to Steal the item that gives you +5 Resolve during the Renji boss battle near the tower, because he does join the party afterwards, but only as a guest character, so you can't control his actions and equip him with it.
Indigosama: Definitely equip the anti-blindness item while controlling Kenpachi.
jainax: And DEFINITELY have your GF-zanpakutou learn to AutoRevive skill.
Indigosama: If you don't level up your Bankai materia before the Byakuya battle, you're screwed.
jainax: Yeah, you have to make sure you have enough HP, because you can't pause to heal yourself between stages of that battle.
Indigosama: The Eleventh Division area is the best place to run into random battles to level up.
jainax: But if you get a random encounter with the pink-haired enemy, RUN because you CAN get an unexpected Boss battle. But you're probably safe, because that character wanders and only appears there rarely.
Indigosama: Though even if you don't get an unexpected Boss battle you're better off running, because if it gets close enough it's DOINK and instant death.
jainax: And there aren't a lot of save points in the Seireitei zone.
jainax: But if you can recruit Hanatarou into your party, you can get a lot of awesome healing spells.
Indigosama: Just be careful not to equip him with the Flour Pills or he'll actually -lose- MP.
jainax: That's why you have to read the item description, because the item icon is the same.
Indigosama: Right, always pay attention to things like that. Be careful around the Thirteenth Division area, they use deafening attacks.
jainax: The nice thing is, if you get defeated there, you get an auto-rez. You just lose some EXP.
Indigosama: If you choose 'Drink' with the Shunsui boss you get an instant full-HP boost.
jainax: Unfortunately, you can't progress through the level without choosing `Attack' sooner or later.
jainax: But it's okay to stop there if you need a fill-up before going back to level.
Indigosama: Right, you can always fill up and then leave.
Indigosama: The Kira enemy will always run from you UNLESS he appears with the Gin boss.
Indigosama: If he shows up with the Gin boss, run like hell.
jainax: Because if he gets a successful hit on you, your Attack options is grayed out, because you can't lift your sword anymore.
Indigosama: Then you have to look out for the Gin boss' attack, which inflicts 1000 HP damage with every hit.
jainax: And you can only survive that if you've leveled up to captain rank, which is basically impossible until almost the end of the game.
Indigosama: The Aizen uberboss has a Phoenix materia linked to Final Attack -- it doesn't matter what the hell you do, you cannot kill him
Indigosama: You have to steal his Hougyoku materia AND cast 'Control' on his Grimmjow minion to even have a chance
jainax: Yeah, this is why you have to `Talk' with certain characters throughout, otherwise they won't show up as guest party characters to help you during the final battle and you're fucked.
Indigosama: Definitely talk with Shunsui and Ukitake, because then they turn into Summons and unleash the massive-damage Twin Zanpakutou Old Man Blaster Attack
jainax: The AWESOME thing is Byakuya briefly joins your party, and he's got twice the stats of most of your other characters. The bad thing is he gets one-shotted down to 1 HP by Gin immediately after.
Indigosama: And not too long after that you have to do a prolonged quest in which you have to cope with having all stats lowered by cursed plushie items that never seem to leave your person
jainax: Yeah, but you don't have to buy that game if you don't want to--it's a fill in, like Kingdom Hearts: Chain of Memories. The FMV at the beginning of the actual sequel tells you anything you need to know.
Indigosama: You're better off not buying it, the plot's a bit thin and the graphics aren't nearly as good.
jainax: And you don't even have all of the attacks you learned in the first one
Indigosama: about the only really good thing is that you have permanent access to Renji as a member of your party
jainax: Rukia's attacks have seriously upgraded as well, but you have to be strategic about when she's in your on-screen party, because a couple of bossses will always attack her first, so then you can't use her anyway.
Indigosama: And you have to look out because Ishida's attacks are SEVERELY downgraded
jainax: Yeah, best to set him aside. And don't bother buying armor or items for him, cuz when you get him back, he comes equipped with his own and it's better anyway.
Indigosama: The fourth game in the series is a lot better than the third
Indigosama: the battle animations are very nice
jainax: Some of the stat upgrades are kind of twinky, but you need them, because the enemies are fierce.
Indigosama: Be very aware of the Hormone Attacks unleashed by some of the enemies -- though if you have Matsumoto in your party she has the same attack and can cancel the enemy out
jainax: I like that you gain access to Isshin, but it sucks that you can only fight with him when he's the only one in the party, otherwise he shows up in his lab coat and just farts around
Indigosama: If you have Isshin in your party while not in Shinigami status, then you have to be VERY careful because if Ryuuken shows up he will instantly cast Distraction and then Isshin is useless
jainax: I think it kinda sucks that the Closet Zone is no longer accessible, because I remember leaving a few items there from the last game.
Indigosama: But you do gain access to Karin and Yuzu's Room, which stores a lot more items
jainax: The space is okay, but it's almost not worth it, because you don't get a lot of chances to go to that zone between quests.
Indigosama: true, very true
Indigosama: The Urahara Shoten starts stocking a lot more items, though, and you can leave things there in the back room
jainax: Yeah, that's helpful. And you can go to the secret Basement zone to level up and learn a few new techniques.
Indigosama: The Basement Zone is useful for its Arena feature -- that lets you battle against each other to learn new techniques and the longer you battle, the better the enemies get
jainax: I LOVE that feature. I just wish you could bring all your characters into it, but some just have quest after quest so you really can't.
Indigosama: Yeah, that part kind of sucks -- but later on everyone you've ever fought with/against can show up in the battle arena for practice battles
Indigosama: Just look out if you run into Overlord enemies, they'l waste your ass but in the Arena you just auto-res without losing anything
jainax: I'm really looking forward to the next game. I've heard the developers are getting close to being done--it's got an ENTIRELY new world to explore. The downside is you can only bring five party members with you.
Indigosama: Yeah, but you can get other party members along the way -- they look kind of winky but they've got special abilities that can totally save your ass if you use them right
jainax: Yeah, the info and spoiler images released so far are a bit light on what their place is in the storyline, but they look interesting. Can't wait until it's done and we can play it all the way through.
