Post of SHAME

I don't know if I should be more embarrassed about having the Tarzan soundtrack on my iPod or the fact that I'm getting all verklempt listening to it. At work. While masking out pictures of river creatures.

In order to get comments other than the mocking-me type, what music do you own that you are (or just should be but you're not) ashamed of? Let's all share.

I own every Abba album.

And their solo albums as well.

And I am not ashamed.

I have some boy bands on my computer. *hangs head in shame*

This comic makes me laugh because I've been getting all sniffly at stupid pop songs about omg my heart will never love again. Kelly Clarkson. Kelly Fucking Clarkson. And if Michelle Branch comes up? Game over, man. GAME OVER.

And to continue with the Disney love, "Part of Your World" randomly entered my head yesterday, and I could not get it out!

Cyndi Lauper and Roxette!

But girls just wanna have fun when they've got the look!

I have Debbie Gibson, Tiffany, and New Kids on the Block MP3s in obscene quantities on my Dell DJ, and am not in the slightest bit ashamed of this. Nor am I ashamed of the (still growing) collection of incredibly cheesy Lea Salonga pop songs in Tagalog.

Um, Mulan soundtrack 4EVAR
misslucyjane: poetry by hafiz (music is my anti-drug by mediocrechick)

I don't own any music I'm ashamed of, as I'm of the opinion that nothing you enjoy should embarress you--but I know people would be surprised at the amount of country I own.

[identity profile] sophiap.livejournal.com 2005-08-10 04:58 pm (UTC)(link)
I have some really, really bad 80's music that I listen to when I work out. How bad? We're talking Falco's "Rock Me Amadeus" bad.

But do you have hazel eyes?

I have just about everything Barry Manilow ever released. *meeps*

[identity profile] andmydog.livejournal.com 2005-08-10 05:02 pm (UTC)(link)
I own (as in, bought from a store that I had to walk into) Britney's first two albums.

And I like (most of) them.

[identity profile] andmydog.livejournal.com 2005-08-10 05:03 pm (UTC)(link)
I now have Electric Youth stuck in my head. And I remember most of the lyrics. Whee!

Own, and am ashamed of: Dido. (twitch) And MP3s of "Larger Than Life" by the Backstreet Boys and TaTu's "All the Things She Said," shut up, omg dun judge meeee. And a terrible compilation from Elton John that I've had foreverandever and just...never sold off, because you never know in life when you're going to NEED a copy of "Someone Saved My Life Tonight." I guess. I keep forgetting I have it.

Own, and am not ashamed of: An import copy of Pet Shop Boys' Very with the second disc of remixes and B-sides which I ordered specially because I HAD to have a copy of "Absolutely Fabulous" despite the fact that I never bothered to watch the show, let's not start. And the best of James Taylor. I should be ashamed of that, but I can't help it. That stuff instantly puts me into a good kind of coma. It's like catnip. I also have 3 Pink Floyd CDs and two of the Beatles, which are all way passe, I would suspect.

Rest assured that no one, no one has worse taste than me. No one.

hmmm... i still own the very first Wrestling Album on cassette AND vinyl. LOL

also guilty of Roxette, Five for Fighting, and an unholy lust for anything Rob Thomas. :)

[identity profile] herogear.livejournal.com 2005-08-10 05:42 pm (UTC)(link)
I have Gwen Stefani. And like it.

Also a lot of cheesy power metal like Rhapsody and Blind Guardian.

[identity profile] jaina.livejournal.com 2005-08-10 05:44 pm (UTC)(link)
I like her too. She reminds me of cheesy 80s pop.

[identity profile] sabbath301.livejournal.com 2005-08-10 06:08 pm (UTC)(link)
I still have the Spice girls as well as *Nsync.

They don't blend very well with everything else I have even though that's all uber eclectic

[identity profile] josieland.livejournal.com 2005-08-10 06:19 pm (UTC)(link)
i don't have anything I am embarassed over.. Though I did have to 'aquire' a bunch of hilary Duff for my girls, which very rarely gets put on the playlist no matter how they beg..LOL. MY collection though is something I am sure most people think I should likely cringe a little over. I am a bit infamous for weird music. I have had much Punjabi on my list for about 4-5 years now. Hehe.. oh and so much more.

[identity profile] sailormac.livejournal.com 2005-08-10 07:30 pm (UTC)(link)
I own "Smooth Jazz" compilation CDs. Quite a few of them.

I've found it's actually the best music to have on while writing, as it makes good "brain padding" without actually distracting you.

[identity profile] wreakerofhavoc.livejournal.com 2005-08-10 07:48 pm (UTC)(link)
I figured out a LONG time ago that most people feel I ought to be embarrassed about my extensive Celtic music collection. I'm immune to the shame.

Of course, I also have a questionable affinity for 80s power ballads.

[identity profile] fadingembers.livejournal.com 2005-08-10 09:09 pm (UTC)(link)
No, I am behind blue eyes!

Wordy McWord.

I see your country music and raise you "I have been to a Billy Ray Cyrus concert."

[identity profile] rosehiptea.livejournal.com 2005-08-10 09:38 pm (UTC)(link)
Mor stuff than I could even enumerate, but let's settle for Poison's Greatest Hits, as well as several different recordings of "Total Eclipse of the Heart."

And a lot of Pat Benatar but I love her.

[identity profile] a-hollow-year.livejournal.com 2005-08-10 10:32 pm (UTC)(link)
I SHOULD probably be ashamed of at least 50% of the music I listen to, but I'm just not. My tastes just aren't that discriminating, and I can love a song just because I like a certain five note combination, or because I like a clever little wordplay, or because it's GOT A BEAT I CAN DANCE TO, DAMMIT.

That said, the stuff I should be most ashamed of? My extensive collection of college A Capella covers of popular songs. What can I say? I like the singin'.

Also, much love for the Tarzan soundtrack. Much love.

Ain't nothin' embarassing about Roxette!

Or is there?

It's must've been love, but it's oooooooover nowwwwww.

[identity profile] arafel.livejournal.com 2005-08-11 12:49 am (UTC)(link)
stfu kthx I love that song. :)

Let's See...

[identity profile] serendous.livejournal.com 2005-08-11 01:05 am (UTC)(link)
It's most just single songs

Spice Girls - Spice Up Your Life
Michael Jackson - Leave Me Alone
Whitney Houston - It's Not Right
Ghostbusters Soundtrack
Sisquo - The Thong Song
Ain't No Stoppin' Us - Breakin' Soundtrack
Fat Boys - Fat Boys Are Back
Europe - The final countdown
Ozzy Osbourne and Lita Ford - Close Your Eyes

I'm sure there's more on the harddrive

[identity profile] herogear.livejournal.com 2005-08-11 04:17 pm (UTC)(link)
Same here, but most think me gay for liking such schtick.
