Really? I found the present-day stuff intense, but the whole investigation was so Whatever! Couldn't V have learned all that gaes ago, if only from nasty rumors swirling around the school after a party like that?

Absolutely. Which makes the overly quick and neat tie up of it all so wrong! She didn't seem to be angsting at all in the scene with the locked thing with the broken thing. ;-) Where's the trauma? Where's the "I'm doing this to escape my pain" at least? Too bubbly, giggly, having fun. She shoulda been re-casting 18 months of pain and mystery in her head.
Mama Kane in the end of that one scene? Ew. Chills and ew.
Did you think there was an anvil in the scene with Daddy and Son Echolls (besides the one that led to the scene we saw)? I thought we were being given a tidbit of info pretty obviously as a bump-set for some upcoming spike.
I think i might go visit some TWoP....
