Minor peeve

"Arts" is not a word. Well, okay, it is when talking about the arts in general, but not in the "I make arts" sense. Therefore, fanarts is also not a word. You do not make fanarts. Rrrrrgh. Head asplode.

eta: "FANFICTIONS" ISN'T A WORD EITHER!

*snerks*

True, but now I want to use that word. It'll be like "internets" in a way.

[identity profile] jaina.livejournal.com 2005-03-26 04:58 pm (UTC)(link)
Heh. Well, there's nothing wrong with using it ironically.

OMG U R LIEK SO MEEN FANARTS IS TOTALLY RITE!!1!!!!11one!!1!eleven!!

...Hmm. Should I have misspelled 'totally,' too, or would that be overkill?

Just a tad, but since when have we cared about being over the top?

BTW, if you end up going to Toronto we are SO visiting and having an Utena marathon.

Fanarts? That's a new one.

What really gets me is when I see someone write "Vash the Stamped". Totally changes the meaning of his name doesn't it? Spell check doesn't pick it up, and it's not as if you can expect someone to (gasp!) proofread it themselves.

[identity profile] jaina.livejournal.com 2005-03-26 06:33 pm (UTC)(link)
I kinda love it when peopple do that just because it's hilarious.

Like omg you spelled "people" wrong! *gasp*! XD
.__.

Don't hurt me,please! >__

Um, typos happen.

[identity profile] offscreen.livejournal.com 2005-03-26 09:18 pm (UTC)(link)
"Internets" isn't a word either :)

[identity profile] yourmomsayshi.livejournal.com 2005-03-27 12:33 am (UTC)(link)
my friend and I have a joke about "roofles on the internets".

just thought I would share (and, yes, I'm sure that changed your life)

It was a total epiphany!

"The herd of moose decided to write fanfiction and draw fanart for their friends, the sheep, while the six wildebeest stopped by for a bite to eat."

And they say English is a hard language to learn. Ha!

No wonder the rest of the world hates us! History would be vastly changed if we all just spoke friggin' German.

[identity profile] jaina.livejournal.com 2005-03-27 02:48 am (UTC)(link)
I am forever noticing new language wonkies that make NO SENSE. I send up a little thanks that I don't have to learn it.

[identity profile] cantspell.livejournal.com 2005-03-27 01:23 am (UTC)(link)
what about 'fics' or 'fanfics'? Because that seems okay to me in a way that 'fanfictions' doesn't.

[identity profile] jaina.livejournal.com 2005-03-27 02:42 am (UTC)(link)
Fics has never bothered me. I suppose it should, considering what it's derived from, but I guess I can wank that it's become it's own fannish word enough that it's okay.

[identity profile] a-hollow-year.livejournal.com 2005-03-27 04:24 pm (UTC)(link)
I enjoy the word fanarts because if I'm reading too quickly I read it as "farts".

And that just makes me giggle.
