Two questions

1) [livejournal.com profile] uncountedchimes, how do you Photoshop that comic book-looking effect you have in a couple of your icons? I need a minor Photoshop trick for tomorrow and nothing cool I know on my own is really anything people won't know already.

2) CHAR, THE NET PROGRAMS ARE DOING IT AGAIN HELP MEEEEEEE!

Okay. So that wasn't really a question. I think I get a pass because my computer is being a hosebag.

Have you tried replacing the version of wininet.dll in your system32 folder with the new one?

Not yet. You were talking about getting rid of history and temp internet files and I was all "How do I do that without being able to open IE?" and we never resolved that before the updates supposedly fixed it. Should I just go ahead and do it?

Wouldn't hurt.

Can you get on AIM express? I've got Lilah trapped and eating for the next few minutes.

Heh.

It's complicated, but there's a tutorial somewhere. Gimme two seconds...

There. (http://www.livejournal.com/community/icon_tutorial/841509.html)
I use a few tricks (like putting a copy of the original image over the comic icon and setting it to 40% Hard Light for that more textured look), but that's essentially the way.

I use the Cutout filter and the Smudge tool. Woo!
