I'm a little boggled that ppl have gotten so nuts over it. I'll have to hop on over to f_w to learn what the major Wank Points are. Was there any doubt that it was going to be licensed, given the popularity of the manga and the sheer number of people wandering around cons with forehead protectors on? I'm personally surprised it took this long, though with the one-two punch of licensing and then the announcement that it's going to be on CN, the negotiations have probably been going on for a long time.

It doesn't mean shit for fansubs. SC's still coming out in fansub and that's been licensed from the get-go.

At any rate, they all need to lighten the hell up. Fansubs, as any Japanese speaking person will tell you, don't exactly translate everything perfectly, either. The same with people who translate the scanlations of manga. To change the kanji for Gaara's "I understand" in Chapter 247 to "okay", well, only one familiar with it would know that. We just rely on cats who are teh smrt and are bilingual to put it into language we understand.
