Random observation

I know what the comm is actually for, but there's something just kinda wrong about the title [livejournal.com profile] adult_poke_fan.

My first thought was "They're into poking adults?"

I'm a part of that community!

Oooh, Pikachu... you sex me up! *Snork!*

EG has an Utena doujinshi with Pikachu on the cover. Considering the content of the average Utena doujinshi, we were frightened.

Luckily, nothing icky happened.

You were never in Pokemon fandom were you? I started out there, in my fanfic reading and writing. (Well, I read some X-Files fics, too, in my early 'net days, but... yeah, my starting fandom was Pokemon).

You don't know the depths of weird (and sick!) Pokemon got to! And I wasn't even into reading the "adults only" fics!

Ever hear of Piketchshipping? I have. It started as a joke based on one episode of the anime where Pikachu kept licking at this bottle of ketchup. He really liked ketchup (as a food!) Pikachu x Ketchup. Yep. I read a fic that featured this relationship, thinking it was going to be a cute joke fic in which I'd get a good laugh.

0_o. Pikachu fornicating himself in a variety of wasy with the bottle. Yep. Ketchup, his one true love.

Sometimes, in Pokemon fandom "Adult-poke fan" is right. 0_o.

Nah, never was into it. I'd sometimes leave it on when I checked e-mail after school (damn, that was a LONG time ago) but despite the cute, I could never watch it for more than about ten minutes. I have some friends who still like it a lot, though.

That's...just horrifying.

You started in XF? Hee, that was my first fandom. I learned everything I needed to know about skeery fans and flamewars just from watching.

[identity profile] lushdesolation.livejournal.com 2004-10-10 07:14 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh, man... Pokemon flamewars - just in Team Rocket fandom - enough to learn everything you need to know about the internet!

James is Gay! James is not gay and is madly in love with Jessie!

Me: Hey, aren't they just friends with some strained romantic potential?

R*cketshippers - they make you rabid VxM fans and all the rabid WxV fans in the world look like a joke.

Oh, and shipping for everything. Trigun fandom's only JUST catching up with the rampant shipping and sex orgies that have gone on in the Pokemon fandom for years. Seriously! Picketshipping is just on the weirder end of the spectrum. There's Shishishipping (Ash and Gary), Pokeshipping (Ash and Misty, very common, particularly among the younger set), several varietys of Rocketshipping (R*cketshipping being the bitchiest type, Semishipping being a form that I invented, or at least coined the term for, to my knowledge). ... Giovanni x Mewtwo... Ash and Pikachu getting it on... Um... lots of stuff.

A great, funny place to go to see some of the funnier stuff in Pokemon fandom and pervertedness is a place called "Pokemopolis" if you ever wanted to do a search for it. Unlike most of the fandom, the people that run the site adamatly proclaim that James is gay. They also proclaim that Professor Oak and Ash's mom are in a torrid affair that they keep secret from Ash, and that Oak is Ash's real father... It's a very pervy, demented parody site - and very hilarious. It's quality parody! Great place to show you some of the weirdness the fandom got into.

I ought to drag it up again, for nostalgia.

*curls up into a fetal position from scary scary Pokemon fandom*

[identity profile] lushdesolation.livejournal.com 2004-10-10 07:29 pm (UTC)(link)
Trust me... it got scary. IT IS SCARY. I lost interest in the fandom some time ago. (About when I discovered Trigun!)

Also, I remembered...

My very first fanfictions EVER were these odd crossovers between Pokemon and The X-Files. I've been thinking of sproking them on GAFF, because I can laugh at my past that way.

Sforzie, a girl I used to fangirl in much the same what that MillyFan fangirls me - gets sad when I talk about how bad they were, because, after all these years, she still finds my old fics amusing.

[identity profile] lushdesolation.livejournal.com 2004-10-10 07:25 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh, just remembering... I didn't like everything on Pokemopolis... I mean... one of the site runners would draw little fancomics involving rape... Ick!

So, yeah, some of the stuff on Pokemopolis is funny in the "this is wrong!" way, and some of it *does* go too far. Just to warn.
