A shallow post of no consequence

At home this weekend, I caught the 20/20 interview with Mary Kay Letourneau. I had to catch that, because man, that is some messed up shit right there. I was especially interested in what would be said given that Mary Kay and Vili Fulauu (sp?), the kid she fucked, are apparently still together. I was underwhelmed by Mary Kay's responses to some of Barbara's questions. She TOTALLY ducked two of the most important ones, the first being what she would like people to know that might help them understand WTF she was doing. She half-assed some comment about wanting people to know it's okay, when you're depressed and going through emotional crud, to ask for help. Well, duh, Mary--what makes it okay for you to FUCK a CHILD? That's what it comes down to. It doesn't matter if they're truly MEANT 2 BE and end up married for fifty years with ten kids--a parent should be able to send their pre-teen child to school and trust that they will not get fucked by an authority figure meant to help guide them. No, it doesn't matter if the kid wants it or has real feelings. I don't think people magically become adults at age 18, but 12 most definitely falls in the range of when a minor child should not be making those decisions. Mary Kay was the adult, and it's the adult's job, the teacher's job, which I think should be a semi-sacred positon, to back away, to say no. At the en dof the interview, she couldn't, or wouldn't, answer when asked if it was all worth it. That really said it all.

totally unrelated--I picked up this week's People today, with the article about Britney's wedding. I still think the whole thing is kind of a train wreck, but do I have turn in my Snarky Bitch cred if I admit those kids are kind of cute, and it'd suck if it all fell apart quickly? Erm, not that I'm going to. I'll just say that Britney should've washed her hair before her wedding and leave it at that.

Hey Ron--would you and the missus happen to have any time for a wandering Yankee a couple of weekends hence? It's still very very iffy, but I might be wandering up by you guys.
