Canon users - help plz?

Okay. When I first set up the drivers and software and such on my computer, it immediately recognized my digital camera when I plugged it in and downloaded the pictures with ease. Now it doesn't, and in the canon utilities folder in the start menu, some programs are just a readme and an uninstall and not a real program. So...bzwah? For the record, I'm using a Canon Powershot A-80.

Are you using Windows? I've got an application on my XP box that *requires* me to restart the system before it will recognize anything plugged in by USB and function properly.

If that doesn't help, you can always reinstall the software - and believe it or not, in the world of Windows, that's an acceptable fix. *rolls eyes*

On XP, yes. I'll try restarting when I'm not chatting. ^_^ I don't know if reinstalling will work since the same thing happened on my parents' computer. Thanks for the tips.

How come you're never on chatting when I am? :P Stop working long hours already. ^_^

That happened to my Canon scanner once. I just uninstalled and reinstalled and everything's been kosher since. It's a pain, but yeah.
