Do any of you play City of Heroes? Josh showed it to me today and I must admit to being mighty tempted to buy it. I've never played an MMORPG before, though. Anyone got thoughts & impressions they'd like to share? Anyone? Bueller?

I just got a resounding endorsement from a friend last night, oddly enough. Sounded like cool funness.

Hee. It is a product of Morri's twisted genius.

I've played it a bit. It has a very flexible character creation system - you can make pretty much any kind of hero you want, in terms of powers and appearance. The game itself is pretty much a MUD with graphics. You team up with other people and beat up random stuff. Occasionally you team up with other people and go on missions to beat up specific stuff. There's not a ton of variety in the gameplay itself, but the main hero types are different enough that you can try out a different style if you get bored.

Anyway, it's a lot of fun, but like all MMORPGs, how long you play it will depend on whether or not you find friends on it (you probably will, since there is no player killing on CoH) and whether or not you like repetitive MUD-style gaming. Either way, it's worth trying it for the first couple months. I'm about to get started with it, myself, so if you buy it we should team. ^___^

Yeah, we should! I'll probably pick it up on Wednesday, since I have the day off. Dairy Queen x Me: ourluvissofullofsorefeet.

Sounds good. I might pick it up on Thursday, myself, assuming I have the cash. Otherwise it'll be a couple of weeks. Fortunately the "sidekick" system means that we can play at almost the same level, regardless of whether or not I start late. ^__^

Haha, that is awesome. I want to name my heroes weird things, like Eats Bagels Man.

Were I not totally ensconced in Dark Age of Camelot, I would give City of Heroes a try myself simply because it looks like a neat concept.

For a laugh, visit GU Comics. (http://www.gucomics.com)

Woody, the artist, has the inside scoop on lots of things MMORPG related, and puts up comics about individual games as well as the 'state of the industry.'

Good luck, enjoy, and welcome to the world of MMORPGs (More Pigs as Woody says.)
