1. What was your very first fandom, and how did you get into it?
X-Files. I liked the show, so when I got to use a friend's computer before we had the net, I found some sites and fell in love with the shipping world. The rest is history.

2. What's your current primary fandom, and how did you get into it?

I'm fairly multi as far as appreciating fandoms go, but my primary participation goes with Trigun. [livejournal.com profile] sarcasticval sat me down and said "This is good. Watch it." I did.

3. What is your best fandom-related memory?

Animazement 2002. It was my first anime con, first time I met a bunch of my online anime friends. It was awesome to be in a place where my geekery totally fit in immediately. Also, [livejournal.com profile] fadingembers and I discovered that we shared a brain, and that was rad.

4. What's the farthest you've ever travelled, and why?

To the Bahamas on a cruise my senior your of HS for National Honor Society. Why--because it was a fuckin' cruise. Still my best vacation.

5. What's your favorite travel destination, and why?

I haven't been to cool places frequently enough to pick one, but I would like to go back to New York. And hopefully I'll make it to Japan in about a year.

1. What's your favorite anime music video?

Oh, gosh. This is hard because I lurve AMVs and have watched many awesome ones. Ask me again in a year and you might get an entirely different answer. But for now...Engel. The Trigun version, not NGE. It's creatively edited (gotta love those filters), edited well, with good lip synchs, and features Mah Sekrit Evil Boyfriend Knives. It is an excellent Knives video--really captures him. And it made me like Rammstein.

2. If you had to pick a single cd to listen to on a six hour car trip, what would it be?

Something really damn long. Let's say the Para Para Paradise soundtrack, because it's fun and would keep me chipper. Though it would probably also make me speed.

3. What anime and/or manga series has you breathlessly waiting for its arrival?

Jem.

Oh shut up, it's still animated.

Since you didn't specify the location of the arrival, I'm going to say KareKano. Hey, it hasn't arrived at my house yet. Oh, and Trigun translated manga vol. 1. WHERE ARE YOU?

4. What exactly is insurance girl cosplay?

Kinky sex play where I am Meryl and Eric is Vash.

Or just when people dress up as Milly and Meryl at anime conventions.

5. Where do you see yourself in ten years? Doing what?

Oh fuck, I hate this question. *g* Sorry. I don't know. Hopefully doing fairly well in whatever career I'm in. Surrounded by good friends.

From [livejournal.com profile] qkellie:
1. What's so cool about that Dance Dance Revolution thing?

Try it, you'll see. It's just a damn fun game. It has catchy poppy music and an addictive quality, much like those damn msn games people can't stop playing--only it's good for you! Plus, where else can you hear songs like "Oh Nick Please Not So Quick"?

2. How serious are you about the whole Grey Davis crush deal?

Well, I'm not going to stalk him or anything, be he is my current Celebrity Crush. He's handsome, dignified, and can joke on himself.

3. If Knox and Connor got into a fight, who'd win?

If he has time to prepare--Knox, because he'd whip out some awesome gadget from his Batman utility belt.

4. If Spike from "Buffy" and Spike from "Bebop" got into a fight, who'd win? ;)

They'd fight to a standstill. BuffySpike would be pissed that he can't get close enough to bite (jeet kun do!), and BebopSpike would be pissed that his bullets wouldn't keep BuffySpike down. In the end, they'd agree to a truce, each insisting that he totally could have kicked the other's ass. Then they'd go to a bar and talk about blonde women they can't have.

5. Why do you have "..." listed in your interests?

Why don't you?

It's fun. That's all.

1. What's your confirmation name?

Frances. After the boy Saint.

2. Pumpkin or Apple Pie?

Pumpkin, with real whipped cream.

3. You have duct tape, a 2x4, and PMS. Who gets beaten?

Dubya, and I do it with a smile on my face.

4. Can I get a discounted game of Britney's Dance Beat bcuz omg it rox.

Nope, THQ closed my brother's studio down. Now he's in Texas getting paid a bajillion more dollars to do the same thing. I can maybe get you cheap Microsoft schna.

5. Why Grey Davis?

See above, baby. OUR LOVE IS 4 REAL.

1. What's the most important book in the world, to you?

Not sure if there is one that's most important--but I'll go with Hogfather, by Terry Pratchett. It says a lot about human silliness and the nature of belief. Also, it's hysterical. Tied for second place are twenty other Discworld novels.

What are some of your favorite "comfort foods"?

Popcorn for sure. I love salty things. Macaroni and cheese. Hot chocolate.

What's your all-time favorite console gaming system, and why?

Super Nintendo. I adored all the games I owned on it--they had some real charm. It's weird to see them on GBA when I still have the originals.

If you could pick just one currently untranslated manga/anime to be released in the States, which would you choose?

Scrapped Princess. It's good! And it's tough to pick something unlicensed, as fast as they pick them up these days.

What's the most important attribute for a person to have, in your opinion?

Integrity. If you have that, even if I disagree with you on everything else, I can at least respect you.

1. Yes, Meryl has a megaphone and a pink suitcase, and this is the shit. Now why do you really love Trigun?

Oh god. Don't get me started--too late. You got me started.

A) It's incredibly well-written. The funny episodes are really, really funny. The angsty episodes are superbly angsty, but not gratuitously so. Little things count--stuff that makes you go "huh?" at one point will make you go "ohhh" later. It took me quite a few watches to catch everything, and I'm still not sure I have. But it's not in a way that annoys you.

B) The characters rule. All of them have depth--even the ultimate villain, who you only see in a few episodes, has layers upon layers. There's the sexy priest who carries (many) guns, smokes, and lies. There's the Phoebe Buffay-like innocent girl who is a lot sharper than she seems. There's the rigid, orderly insurance girl who is more naive about the world than you'd believe but who moves beyond papework and orders. There's the world's deadliest gunman--a pacifist. And they have some serious character development, too--no one is static.

C) The action sequences kick ASS. The final episode has the best gunfight ever animated. I defy you to find a better one.

D) OMG everyone's doing each other.

2. How do you think dealing with fandom and 'Net stuff has changed you as a person? Do you think you'd be the same girl if the Internet had never existed?

Fuck no, I wouldn't be. I mean, I'd still be me at my core. But being on the net has exposed me to countless new attitudes and philosophies, random and interesting information, and has increased my ability to be articulate and diplomatic. (That last one definitely needed some help.) I've also learned when to walk away from bullshit. It's also helped me embrace my geekiness.

3. Favorite quote. I'm not getting lazy, not at all.

I can't quote Yeats' The Second Coming in its entirety, can I? Okay, going with Emily Dickinson:

Parting is all we know of Heaven
and all we need know of Hell.

My initial interpretation wasn't really what she intended, but it still gives me goosebumps.

4. Favorite flamewar/drama. Because everyone has a favorite.

Dude! It would be like picking a favorite child! I think I'm going to have to go with the time the over-sensitive members of SMRFF went after Chi and Phi for the reviews and they snarked back word for word. Knowing who backed down in private made for smirky fun.

5. What is your most valuable possession, in a non-monetary sense?

My computer. Not because I have an addiction to it, but because it's helped me meet so many awesome people and lets us stay in contact when it would otherwise be very difficult.

From [livejournal.com profile] sarcasticval:

1. If you could forever banish an internet idiocy (typing in all caps, soulbonds, etc.) so that no one could EVER do it again, what would it be and why?

NETSPEAK! In all its forms. People would use proper grammar and save slang for the proper moments. That way I could at least read the other idiocy without getting a headache.

2. You are now a l33t fic writer, but we all have to start somewhere. Do you have any fice that you will NEVER show anyone? If so, describe.

There are many. I once showed a ridiclously-plotted MSR for X-Files, but it is GONE now, baby! Also, my first fic was a songfic.

Oddly enough, I would be proud to share my first fic if I could find the disk--a 30-page Sonic the Hedgehog angst fic.

3. What are you afraid of?

Pissing away my potential. Being afraid to love.

4. When you were a little kid and people asked you what you wanted to be when you grew up, what did you tell them?

An artist! I could draw then.

5. If you could *magically* change one thing about yourself what would it be? (Doesn't have to be within the realm of realistic possibility).

I would be able to draw again. Also, I could shit money.

Whee! That was fun.
