Sick as a dog, yo.
Bluurgh, In general, I feel craptastic. Yesterday the "sinus drainage" phase of this cold started up and we all know how much fun nausea is. I can't even puke and feel better. I went to the health center during my break between lab shifts and they prescribed me some cough suppressant and decongestant, so possibly will feel better later. I hope so. Not being able to taste what I'm eating, while an interesting experience, is not so fun. Also, the lungs being hacked up? Not good.
I just read an Aragorn/Legolas/Eowyn threesome posted to Glass_Onion. v. educational. There's...not really much to say about that. I just thought it was interesting.
Lab hours for work are nice; in general, we only have to help people if they ask for it, when anyone actually comes in, which right now is kind of rare. In between people i've caught up on all my reading and then some, re-read some notes, and done a journal entry. This aside from the scanning for one of the classes, which I'm not necessarily in a HUGE hurry to do here because if I scan outside of lab hours I get paid more. *shrugs* Hey, they promised 20 hours a week. I'm feeling more optimistic about the novel for workshop. My problem is that while I can come up with plenty of idea seedlings, the instant I start formulating specifics a voice in my head points out all the way they could be lifeless cliches and boring stories. Very annoying! But I like the idea I'm working on now, and I think it's going to be fun to write. I;m also trying to relax more when plotting things out, which I'm sure will help.
You know, I never did mention what exactly the job was that I was so excited about last semester when I got it. (Go, go, grammar!) Basically I'm doing what Val did last semester minus the annoying grad boy. I'm a part of the newish TECS program, which is part of Instructional Media Services. And I get to work with Val, which is cool because it means neither of us have to deal with stupid grads. We're assigned to two classes this semester. One is a health education class that we're basically acting as TAs for. A big part of the class is learning to use technology, so we'll be teaching quite a bit. Scary, ne? The other class is just a lot of scanning for this African Art History class. We also have scheduled hours in the production materials lab, which is where I am now. I can help people laminate. I have the power of a GOD!
And it pays $8.00 an hour, so yay.
