Weekends
Last and this. Because I am anal and will yell at myself if I don't update about both.
Thanksgiving was nice. Though preceded by one of the weirder moments I've had lately (I'll probably yap more about this in the elsewhere place later...maybe...if I don't get lazy again...), I had an easy drive home and was greeted by Maggie, the bro's cute little puppy. Actually, she's grown up enough now that she's no longer "puppy-cute", but she is still adorable and has a very sweet disposition. It was nice to come home. The feeling wears off after I've been there for a while, so I don't feel bad about coming back to school, but there's something comforting about walking in my front door and thinking "Ahh...this is where I live...this is home. Welcome back." Thanksgiving itself was a lovely slackery day. The turkey was a little less warm due to the microwave not being multiple and the potatoes were disappointing (I love homemade ones, lumps and all, even if Bob Evans' are good), but we all got nice and full. I watched the Goonies afterwars and it was just...so great...so comfortable. That's one of the movie that just defines my childhood...not so much in the plot, but in the way it takes me back every time I see it. I've seen it so many times I've lost count. And I never get tired of it. Sometime I need to make a list of movies like that. The Last Unicorn and...crap. I can never manage to think of more than two at a time. (And don't I love the ellipses today? Hoo-hah.)
It was great to see Josh, too. Sometimes I almost wish I was physically attracted to him or mentally/emotionally attracted "in that way", because he makes me so happy. I adore him to death. He was my first and best guy friend. I know I shouldn't distinguish between male and female friends, but there's just something special about the first boy I got really close to. I'm glad that I don't particularly care about picking just one best friend, because that's what we are...best friends. I've changed, he's changed, but it never really matters. I want him to be in my wedding, should it ever occur. I know I'll be in his. We're each a constant in the other's life, and I want it to stay that way.
Anyway, friendlove gushing aside, it was much fun to see him. The poor boy actually gets around very well on crutches, despite the severity of his ankle break. We flopped down on his bed together to watch some Trigun with
dialogue's borrowed DVDs. When the mattress started sliding off the frame, he got up to pull it back on and immediately showed why he's such great boy friend material: "Have you lost weight?" Not that I care that much about my weight, but it was really funny and cute (to me, at least) that he noticed. He really liked Trigun, even though he was inadvertantly spoiled for episode 23, the big bum. We watched some earlier episodes that night and I think on Saturday, too, and both noticed stuff we hadn't caught before. One of the parts of that series that Val always comments on and I think is very cool as well. "Why is he pouring whiskey over the side...OH! I GET IT NOW!" We went to see Harry Potter together and both enjoyed it. He's re-reading my copy now. I want to see the movie again, because I was very distracted the first hour by the constant reading of text inside my head. No, I haven't read the books multiple times or anything...we ended up having to go back and get his keys from under the seat (I'd heard them fall but forgot about them) and I've got to say, I have a lot of smypathy for whoever cleans there, if anyone ever does. Disgusting. I didn't realize movie theater floors could get that gross.
I had to come back to BG on Friday for our last football game, which was a pain in the ass, but we kicked the HELL out of our arch-rival Toledo to the tune of 56-21. They'd been predicted to win by 4. Take that, bitches!
The comic con on Sat/Sunday, in a word, kicked. I'll get into greater detail in another post so I can crosspost to the comics community, but tons of fun was had. I scored autographs from the Host and Groosalug, much free shite including quite a few comics, a free Essential Hulk that the raffle guy felt like giving us, a Wolfwood figure (drooled over Vash, but since I already have one version I talked myself out. But i need me some sexy priest!), a Legato/Vash Trigun wallscroll for ten bucks (HOOAH!), an autographed "Chasing Dogma" TPB (didn't realize it was autographed at the time. I'm not a big Jae Lee fan anyways.), a set of miniature Trigun character busts (Meryl, Wolfwood, Kuroneko-sama, Nebraska dad & son, and "the Trigun" aka Vash *snicker* according to the dealer), a little Molly/Naru SM keychain (I squealed when I saw it. I killed her. I HAD to have it!), and assorted Christmas presents for the Roomie, Eric, and Val. Hope they like `em. ;) Eric and I played mad DDR and other fun games at Gameworks and had much bonding. I kicked his ass at table hockey twice, but I bruised my knee and he had the last word, so it all works out. We were giddy as we skipped across Easton the last night before we left. We also sang our best along with the burned Buffy Musical soundtrack he had. I'm Giles and Tara, he's Spike and we're both Anya. ;) "Bunnies! Bunnies! It must be BUNNIES!"
Skipping ahead a week...this weekend was great. GREAT. Why? Well, nothing special happened. I just didn't have a football game! Not now and not ever again! I love band, I do, but my time is done. I needed to get out of it before I started hating it. And I love having time that actually belongs to me. I hung out in sweats all day Saturday, wrote some nameless (really need a title, folks) Trigun fic, and spontaneously attended a showing of Skin of Our Teeth with my hetero lifemate. It was...eh. I really didn't like the fist act (the girl who played Sabina was making my teeth crawl with irritation) but both the play and the actress got better. It was worth seeing, though maybe not the ten dollars I paid. Hey, I'm po' and it's Christmas, that's a sizeable amount!
The rest of the weekend was well-spent. I jabbered away with my new best girls Kiri and Jingu *sends love to her girls* and Kiri and I decided we loved Jingu so much, along with her kickass fanart, that we kidnapped her and signed an official bill of sale. So she's ours now. Seriously, her work is amazing, especially for as young as she is! Not that she's that young, but eesh...she be very good. And she draws us lemony Vash/Meryl pics on command, so that's another fifty points in her favor. The three of us officially decided to open a V/M site, partially to fulfill our own egos and partially to fill the void left by the closing of Vox, and after much "ummm"ing and "YOU think of a name"ing, we decided on Bittersweet as the site name. I think Jingu came up with it. It rocks. Between the three of us, we actually have enough to fill a whole site, and once again I find myself playing Fic Nazi. But then, I like being the Fic Nazi! (Not to be confused with the Fic Bitch.)
Almost done...I think I've managed to hook
minki on the idea of watching Trigun. Hey, if Vash has something in common with Laguna, the current object of our Catfight, he's got to be someone she'd like! I do believe she declared him worthy of a drool and that Wolfwood being a priest was a "waste of cuteness." I agree. If he actually followed the rules. ;) Ah, screenshots of tasty man treats never fail. Now I've just got to get the actual episodes! Morpheus has apparently been partially firewalled by our sux0r uni, so everything downloads slower than ass. I rejoiced when I realized that Josh had all the episodes and can send them to me when he gets home. Otherwise, I was SOL. Yes, I do consider addicting others a part of my personal crusade! But then Val pointed out that Eric has the episodes anyways and I felt silly. But no matter. Minki and I shall have another man to giggle and drool over like squeaky schoolgirls! REJOICE!
I am clearly getting too silly. And karate calls me--second to last class this semester. Sniff. More later.

Joshie!!
Okay messenger service aside, I know what you mean about that guy friend. I have a friend like that, I'm sure I've mentioned him, heha. Actually, I'm excited cause he's coming back from studying abroad a lot earlier than I thought he was! :)
