I am DVRing the ep and waiting until I get a full Cringe Report from a trusted friend before I watch it. I fully expect to fast-forward through large chunks of it.
I didn't hate it. It had creepy and funny moments, but I like to think of episodes like this as poorly-written love letters to the fans. And the two dudes being partners? I thought that was sweet, regardless of Dean's reaction. (Hey, they found each other through their fannishness - I have to hand it to them. It's hard enough to find someone as it is.)
Overall, though, it was a pretty weak episode, I thought. But I did feel there were good moments.
Hmm :\ I mean, thusfar, I've really enjoyed the creator's integrating the fannishness into the show sorta seamlessly (but with some jibes here and there--none of them undeserved). But they've done how many episodes based on the premise of "LOL FANDOM SO WHACK", is the turkey finally cooked?
LOL. I'm sure i would have lawl'd because I've heard abuot how crazy SPN fandom is. I love how they take their jabs at it, considering its pretty much very deserved from what I've experienced even OUTSIDE the fandom and not even on the INSIDE of it.
My friends even paid 100 dollars each to go to the con that is this weekend (which I find interesting that they aired it this week, probably on purpose). ONE HUNDRED DOLLARS. And they don't even get to do anything, you have to pay extra for autographs, pictures, brunches with them, other panels, it's just 100 dollars to walk int he door. I find this completely ridiculous and retarded.
Good luck to Jenson getting married this past weekend and dealing with the rabid fangirls who probably want her blood spilled.
I think he's just engaged. Although the sentiment towards his fiance is still the same, I'm sure.
I loved the episode. I'm not gonna lie. And they really only scratched the surface of the crazy that is the fandom. I thought they did a nice job of poking fun without being insulting. Just my two cents!
I knew it was coming, and I have no intention of watching it, even though the fannish reviews I've been reading have been pretty positive. But I cannot deal with the PTB in my space, dammit. (Not to mention all the dudes. All the DUDES, Kripke? SRSLY?)
I'm all for mocking fandom (though LOL yes, their gender balance was...not balanced), but for me it's just about beating a dead horse. The "hee hee Supernatural has an in-show fandom" was funny...ONE TIME. And even then it immediately became unfunny for me as soon as they revealed the prophet of the Lord crap, but that's personal preference. (Well, all of this is. But you know.)
Apropos of nothing, I friended you for CL_B communications purposes (making it easier and whatnot). You don't have to friend back, but I wanted to let you know, so as to not be creepy.
