Fact

Michael Gambon is a better Dumbledore than Richard Harris and I will cut* anyone who disagrees.

*I won't actually cut anyone.

In other filmy news: Lane's hilariously overbearing mom from Gilmore Girls is checking into Grey's Anatomy later this month. Emily Kuroda will play a patient in the March 19 episode. OH YES. I am so tuning in for this. If I can't have Emily Gilmore meet House, this is the next best thing.

Also, on TAR, I've never been a huge fan of the U-Turn. I prefer stuff like the Fast Forward, which puts emphasis on teams being proactive themselves rather than tearing other teams down. But the drama lover in my is PSYCHED about the anonymous aspect of this season's version.

Man, I shouldn't have watched chunks of all the Harry Potter movies that aired this weekend. Them + finishing my re-read of Deathly Hallows makes me want to see a film version of the Battle of Hogwarts real bad, and I have a whole movie to go through first! Two, if the splitting-DH-in-twain word is correct.

AUGH AUGH I HATE THIS BIT IN CHAMBER OF SECRETS WHEN MOVIE-DUMBLEDORE CANCELS EXAMS AS A SCHOOL TREAT. NO. THAT IS DUMB, EVEN IN MOVIELAND.

BOMP

I like the U-Turn a hell of a lot more than the Yields. It seems infinitely more fun to make a team go back and complete the other half of a Detour; if they rip through it then they could make up some time, it's not like the arbitrary sit there on your ass period of the Yield. But oh my GOD the anonymous aspect is like...the best thing in the history of ever.

I love how they're raising the stakes with each season, and there are actual CLUES again this time.

As I just told Val, I won't judge you for your taste in old men. What you find attractive, you find attractive. :-P

[identity profile] snowburned.livejournal.com 2009-03-10 03:18 am (UTC)(link)
It's not about attractiveness! Gambon just seems a lot more vital and powerful (but still wise and kindly) like Dumbledore should be. Harris looked like he was about the keel over dead.

Which he um. Was.

GUESS WHO DIDN'T LOG OUT OF HER RP ACCOUNT

[identity profile] flouritephoenix.livejournal.com 2009-03-10 03:20 am (UTC)(link)
LOLz, I just made the same joke over gchat to Val. I felt bad about it. Well, I thought I should feel bad about it. I didn't actually feel bad about it.

[identity profile] jaina.livejournal.com 2009-03-10 03:21 am (UTC)(link)
Ahahaha same here. IT'S TRUE, WHY SHOULD WE FEEL BAD ABOUT THE TRUTH?

Also I feel sort of special that I'm inspiring gchat convos now.

It's like you're in our BRAINS...OH NOES GIVE ME BACK MY BRAINS...THEY NOT BE TASTY!!!

[identity profile] sarcasticval.livejournal.com 2009-03-10 03:39 am (UTC)(link)
Sorry to burst your bubble, but the conversation occurred completely independent of your bad self. I saw the movies being rerun on TV today and felt the need to express my similar opinion, of which WE ARE TOTALLY RITE OMG!

[identity profile] jaina.livejournal.com 2009-03-10 03:40 am (UTC)(link)
Well, I didn't figure I prompted you guys to talk, but I was hoping maybe one of you thought my comment was funny enough to mention.

WHY DON'T YOU THINK I'M FUNNY. YOU BITCH.

yes, we are.

I THINK YOU ARE A FUCKING DELIGHT, YOU GODDAMN WONDERFUL LADY.

I concur about Gambon as Dumbledore.

I am in complete agreement with your opening statement. RH was okay, but MG is doing a good job of showing some of the subtle menace and power Dumbledore has, especially in the latter books.

I really want to see Neville kick ass in the final battle. I want him to go all AragornEowyn on that stupid snake.

Michael Gambon also has a curve named after him on the Top Gear test track!

BEAT THAT, RICHARD HARRIS!

Me too, Neville's journey is as great as Harry's in many ways.

The Dumbledore war always surprised me. I think it's an issue of who's reading him as a mentor and who's reading him as a mentor that is kind of wackadoo. RHarris I couldn't picture saying "Nitwit! Blubber! Oddment! Tweak!"

Oh, god... Emily vs. House.

o.O

who do you think would win?

My bet is on the cane.
