Pr0ntober for
_debbiechan_, Orihime/Ishida
Prompt: 'Real Love'
The best part of Orihime's new vocation as a nurse-in-training was finding new ways to help people, even if Tsubaki pinched her cheeks for not thinking Shunou and Ayame were all she needed. The second best part was all the lovely new people she got to meet. Somewhere further down the list but still close to the top was the girl talk they got to indulge in. Tatsuki-chan and Kuchiki-san were her very best girlfriends, of course, but there were some topics that Tatsuki was too tough for, and love and romance weren't something Kuchiki-san tended to say much about.
Just about all her fellow nurses-to-be did, though. "Masashi says it every night," Kiyoko giggled as they gathered in the break room. "He knows that if he doesn't tell me he loves me, I won't sleep well! And of course he wants me to have the sweetest dreams."
"Kyo always says it...you know." Kagome blushed, and that set off a whole new round of giggles.
"How about you, Orihime-chan?" asked Rumiko. "Your boyfriend seems to deep and intelligent! He must have the most poetic soul."
"Uryuu?" Orihime blinked. He didn't act especially poetic, though sometimes when he was studying some of his long, long medical terms, she'd read over his shoulder and some of them did look lovely and flowing like poetry. "I don't think he has to tell me how much he loves me. I already know."
"Ehhh?" Rumiko looked aghast. "But...how! How can you know?"
"Well..." She frowned. "He does eat my red bean and natto casserole whenever I make it...""
"Oh, Orihime-chan," Kagome sighed. "You've got a lot to learn about relationships."
--
"Uryuu, why don't you tell me you love me all the time?" Orihime asked him just as he began to clear away the dinner dishes that night.
"W-what?" He nearly dropped the plates in surprise, then set them down carefully. "Orihime, are you feeling uncertain about my feelings for you? If so, that's entirely my fault, and I must apo—"
"No, no, no!" She shook her head. "I never worry about that, silly! I know you love me, and I love you SO much. It's just at work, all the girls were talking about when their boyfriends tell them they love them."
"Ah." He pushed his glasses up his nose. "And I'm less verbally inclined. Would it make you feel better if I did, Orihime?" He looked a little awkward. "I...it is not my nature to express myself that way, but for you, I would."
She leaned over to kiss his nose. "I was just curious, really! I want you to be just who you are, Uryuu." He looked a little skeptical but seemed to accept her explanation and finished clearing the table.
That night in bed, any question of mutual affection was gone as they kissed each other, naked under the sheets. Orihime reached down to stroke his cock, but he took her hand and set it gently aside. "Uryuu, what—"
"Shhh." He kissed her lips softly. "I'm telling you something," he whispered, and proceeded to kiss every sensitive spot on her face and neck; her cheeks her earlobes, the soft hollows beneath her jaw.
Orihime's breath came out in shuddering gasps as he moved down the rest of her body, giving no part less attention than any other. She understood then what he was trying to do, and realized something she probably wouldn't tell her co-workers. He did tell her he loved her, all the time; he just didn't always use words to do it.
She opened her mouth to tell him so, but found herself incapable of words just then. That was all right. Knowing Uryuu, he probably didn't need them either.
