Argh! Stupid expiring paid account. Now how will I...oh, good, it left me my Bleach icons. I can't possibly post about the OVA without them. And with that I segue into spoilers.

fadingembers My first reaction: GIGGLE. My second reaction: Holy god, that was fun. The action story itself was, like arafel said, just kinda meh. The merging with one's zanpakutou idea could be interesting, but it was really just there to give everyone an excuse to run around like loons. AND OH THEY DID.
I gotta say: Renji? Just wear your damn shinigami kimono. It cannot possibly look weird than your "respect my authoritah" (and just WHY the HELL did he have a SHOTGUN?!?!) get up or the "blind hippie" outfit. I suppose we could say he's just so whipped he'll wear anything Rukia says, but we know the truth don't we. He has no fashion sense. (PENIS NECKLACE?!?!)
I know the OVA is only in quasi-anime continuity, but I loved the bit with Ichigo, Rukia and Kon just hanging out. Bitchy shinigami friends = love. And it was hilarious how she practically teleported into his closet when Yuzu ran in. Aww, I guess she maybe is staying in his closet in the filler! It also gave me a minor ficlet plot bunny, OF WHICH I NOW HAVE FIVE. (Besides this are sequel to the legend of drunk Renji, two ideas spawned from![[livejournal.com profile]](https://www.dreamwidth.org/img/external/lj-community.gif)
bleach_exchange, and one for the ichi_ruki contest. GOD.)
It was also damn nifty to see Rukia in her shinigami gear again, even if she only did kidou. I still think they're saving her awesome battle scene from the manga and that's why they're not having her use her zanpakutou at all. And it was nifty to see all the Captains in the real world. Who cares of it made sense? Zaraki and Yachiru--BWAHAHAHA. How much money do you want to bet she just wanted him to race a train?
It also made me happy to see Ichigo using a bit of his brain to figure things out. Plus bankai and shunpo are always hot--I admit it, I really dig it when Ichigo gets to show off some skill, rather than "I whack you with my sword REAL HARD until you fall down." And both the pimp coat and flash steps look so damn cool.
Dear Renji: look, we GET that you're totally in love with Rukia and thus willing to take a shitload of blades for her. HOSS UP and say something to her or go get laid elsewhere, because really, it's a crime that you're going to waste.
I also love that this show knows when to mock itself. Like when Ichigo's asking about why they can't sense the bad guy's spirit force (paraphrased):
Yoruichi: Those with great spirit power are also skilled at hiding that power.
Me: Except him.
Yoruichi: Except you.
That's about all for now. Tonight I'll probably re-watch a couple scenes for inspiration and fic more, because JEEBUS, THE BUNNIES. But at least they gave me my favorite opening line of my own stuf so far, which is "Ichigo died." Because hey. In Bleach, death = fun.
