Today I got packages from home--among other things, Mom sent me the Christmas present that was delayed while I was visiting: Get Smart seasons 1-2 on DVD. 60 episode of dopey spy hijinks.

SEE YOU IN A COUPLE WEEKS.
effervescible: (badou - it's a smiley day)
Spending all day inside watching Being Human and anime is an auspicious start to the year.

This episode of Supernatural is one long embarrassment squick.

WHY DIDN'T ANYONE TELL ME GILES WAS IN MERLIN?

Michael Gambon is a better Dumbledore than Richard Harris and I will cut* anyone who disagrees.

*I won't actually cut anyone.

In other filmy news: Lane's hilariously overbearing mom from Gilmore Girls is checking into Grey's Anatomy later this month. Emily Kuroda will play a patient in the March 19 episode. OH YES. I am so tuning in for this. If I can't have Emily Gilmore meet House, this is the next best thing.

Also, on TAR, I've never been a huge fan of the U-Turn. I prefer stuff like the Fast Forward, which puts emphasis on teams being proactive themselves rather than tearing other teams down. But the drama lover in my is PSYCHED about the anonymous aspect of this season's version.

Man, I shouldn't have watched chunks of all the Harry Potter movies that aired this weekend. Them + finishing my re-read of Deathly Hallows makes me want to see a film version of the Battle of Hogwarts real bad, and I have a whole movie to go through first! Two, if the splitting-DH-in-twain word is correct.

AUGH AUGH I HATE THIS BIT IN CHAMBER OF SECRETS WHEN MOVIE-DUMBLEDORE CANCELS EXAMS AS A SCHOOL TREAT. NO. THAT IS DUMB, EVEN IN MOVIELAND.
effervescible: (pushing daisies - wth [sporkyadrasteia])
Sigh. You had a good run, Pushing Daisies. Thanks for hanging with us.
effervescible: (ichigo - whut)
Why are Barbie playset commercials playing between episodes of The Boondocks and Bleach?
effervescible: (ohhhhhh shit son)
Oh, Heroes. Yes, that's it, more violence against women. THAT'S EXACTLY WHAT THIS SHOW NEEDS MORE OF.
effervescible: (bitch please - hayama)
Normally, I actually kinda like "gimmick" episodes, but is anyone else really annoyed with tonight's? 20 minutes in and I can't wait for the end.

Oscars!

(Not sure if I'm gonna liveblog the whole thing. We'll see!)

8:26 - I gotta say, the red carpet gushing is kind of nauseating.

8:30 - Some kind of CGI intro thing that looks way cheaper than it should. LOL, I sense someone didn't have enough time to do something cool after the writer's strike ended!

8:33 - Aaaand Jon Stewart gets in his first SNAP of the evening. I hope to see many more.

8:41 - I don't know whether it was out of respect for the somber time in the industry, the lack of time to prepare or something else, but the opening monologue...not very funny. A few good jokes though.

Cut for winner spoilers )

"Grey's Anatomy: The Mobile Game is a perfect balance of gameplay and content, as the challenging mini-games will resonate with the male audience, while women will be engaged with the game's unfolding drama and character interaction," said Gonzague de Vallois, senior vice president of publishing, Gameloft.

Ohhhhh no, fuck you.

Best. Final leg. Roadblock. Ever.

Sooo God bless the UK, for providing us with Avatar-y goodness sooner than Nick does. WHY DID WE EVER WANT OUR FREEDOM FROM THIS GREAT COUNTRY, WHEN IT IS SO CLEARLY FULL OF AWESOME? And I watched Avatar 3x10 and 3x11 like the naughty downloader I am (except hey, it was streaming video, so I'm not a criminal! Maybe?) and basically: I came. )

I love Pushing Daisies so hard.

I thought about doing this post last night, but in a fit of stupid, I spent approximately 3415678325163851 hours (or, you know, two) playing all the story modes in the Japanese version of the Bleach DS game so I could unlock Rukia. And this isn't even my copy of the game. Then there was chat with [livejournal.com profile] tenebris, [livejournal.com profile] raynos, [livejournal.com profile] himawari and [livejournal.com profile] kasuchi until 3 AM. I don't remember everything, but I seem to recall something about Ukitake the yakuza boss and telling fandom tales to Kas and there was black raspberry wine somewhere, I'm sure of it.

So! The second week of the new TV season is done. HERE ARE MY IMPRESSIONS. P.S. I still need to check out Reaper but I never remember the day it is on. Someone remind me. My lj-cut, let me show you it. )

It's fun to watch other people watch SPN in chat after you've already seen it. (EST FTW!) And then [livejournal.com profile] tenebris started writing fic movie trailers and it was all lollercoasters. So! Thoughts on the Supernatural finale.

Eeeeh! )
effervescible: (ichigo - turn turn turn)
The Millennium Force is an excellent roller coaster.
